Not a phrase as such, but I remember a book I read where this ex-boxer criminal type who owned a pub got the following description:

“his fists clenched in anger, and the muscles under his tight black t-shirt resembled two Volkswagens slowly passing on a narrow road”.

I’ve never forgotten it. Shame I’ve totally forgotten the book I read it in
