Yeah Fed seems to have it over Nadal on hard courts. I think he'll beat him in 4 as well.

I wouldn't underestimate the hard court record though (Fed 3 - 2 Nadal).

I think Federer will win in 4. Not straight sets, largely because of Nadal's mental toughness to not allow him to get bundled out in 3.

Would love to be proven wrong though and see Nadal lift the AO trophy for the first time.

5 hours and 14 mins ending on Saturday morning is a mammoth task to recover from though, especially for a final against Federer.

I'm not surprised that Nadal took this out, but I am surprised how he was able to take this out in 5 sets, especially the nature of the fifth set.

Why? Because of his semi-final and relatively lesser rest heading into the final.

Freakish.

rafa is a machine, to play a semifinal like that and then recover and play another marathon deserves total respect. Its not just the tennis he played, its just his determination which got him over the line.Fed is mentally vulnerable against rafa, i remember wilander said feds balls shrink when he sees rafa :D looks like thats the reality

I dont watch much Tennis.

But is Rafa just like a good Hewitt?

Both have alot of heart, but Nadal can actually do something with his strokes

That is an insult to Rafa.

Rafa is just a machine - he plays every shot like his life depends on it. He gets incredible spin on his forehand, he's very unorthodox.

The only similarity is that Nadal is ridiculously good at chasing down balls, he is like a big wall. Hewitt in his prime was good at chasing down balls too, but nowhere near to this extent. Nadal is probably the best athlete in the game.

I'd also argue that Nadal's 'heart' is one of the greatest ever... his mental strength is just not human. It's like tension allows him to breathe, he loves it. Nerves seemingly don't exist in his world. Hewitt often liked to blame outside factors which would **** him up mentally, although yes he could have matches where he did fight his absolute heart out.

Also, their shots just aren't comparable. Wouldn't know where to start on that one, but the way they hit the ball, how they hit the ball, the tactics that use with their shots - all very different.
