You made the right call, because he did his knee?

we made the right call, because, sadly the guy is injury prone. he hasn't been able to get more than a couple of games together. some people with the potential to be great, never reach the mark cause of the hand they've been dealt.

I had no doubt that Reynolds was going to amount to nothing. Have pretty much argued the point since he began playing for the Bombers. Feel sorry for his latest setback, but Im willing to bet he is finished as an AFL footballer.

That is indeed what I meant. Aside from ability on the field which seemed okay at best, he spent far too much time off the field with injury. The question was (as with any underperforming player) 'is he a worthwhile investment into the future, all risks considered' (ie, injury, form etc).

The powers that be evidently believed not. And through injury, ultimately that decision prooved correct (as it undoubtedly has prooved the case with Campo from Carlton thus far).

Biggest crock of **** ever spouted by Essendon Football coaches, officials and supporters is that Joel Reynolds career was wrecked by injury and illness.

Sure he had a shocking run with injury and illness but he still got plenty of chances to prove himself. All he managed to prove was that he lacked courage, lack basic general skills (dropped far too many easy marks etc), had prehaps the wrost goal kicking accuracy in the League and had no idea how to use his supposed pace.

Wasn't up to AFL level and this was shown on a number of ocassions.

Agree with all of that....I had high hopes for Joel at the start, but he just wasn't good enough.

And the Reynolds name had nothing to do with it.

Joel never lacked courage.

He took on the Scott's in his first game.

Biggest crock of **** ever spouted by you is that he lacked courage. And injuries & illness did halt his development. Who knows, if he didn't have so many setbacks in 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons, things may have been different. Doubt he'll get a 2nd 2nd chance which is a really tough break for him.

Even if he hadnt succumbed to injuries, there were too many in front of him and his development was too slow.
