Figure this may seem bad timing in writing a thread such as this. Fev has come off a good game and this will come across as negative to many. Whilst he played well I felt his attitude was still fluctuating throughout the game. This has long been Fev's problem and I wonder if it connects to arrogance and insecurity. Many tell me that Fev's arrogance is what drives him yet I see him as perhaps in the top 10 most gifted players of all time.If he worked more on being secure I beleive that he would have no need for anything other than his pure footy ability in order to perform consistently at an elite level.
At this stage of his career he is perhaps in Carlton's top 50 of all time and the league's top 100-200. To me this is far below how he should be remembered. In the recent game he staged for very soft free kicks in the 1st and 3rd quarters where he lost his feet with almost no pressure from the defender. In the first quarter he got a soft free and in the 3rd play on with Fev sitting on the ground. A player with full confidence and composure in his abilities should not need to resort to such tactics. Further I see this sort of behaviour as very non team oriented.
Don't get me wrong Fev is my favourite player but unless he sorts out his attitude he will finish his career with the same up and down performances that have marked him up until now. He is heavily touted as the disease and the cure. If Carlton are to become a serious premiership threat then Fev must just become the cure. If Carlton and Ratten feel that he is beyond help or beyond their capability then they should look to move him on.
This would not be my choice as I think Fev can be reached. Looking at him with kids it is obvious that he is a very deep hearted person. However the composure he shows around kids seems to go out the window when he is around adults. As it stands Fev becomes highly competitive but not in a good way. He seems more intent on proving himself as worthy than actually going deep to be the best he can be.
