Got Fifa 2003 on Xbox this morning (AFL 2003 was sitting next to it on the shelf, almost got AFL) and have played it for a bit, and it is quite a bit different to World Cup 2002.

Firstly when you pass the ball it goes directly to the player, unlike WC02 where it just goes in the direction you aim. But there is a through ball button which allows you to put the pass wherever you want so you can use that all the time if you wish.

Ball control is allot different too. For example when you are running along and hit the turbo button then the ball will be harder to control (depending on the quality of the player), passes will not be as accurate etc.

There is a new system for dead ball situations which isn't too bad, but I haven't really gotten a chance to practise as there is no training mode.

It's got all the leagues and stuff, but not that many international teams. I think it's basically the roster of the World Cup game plus a few more.

Oh, and theres a nice little feature where at half time and full time they show all the highlights, basically all the goals and near-goals.

Overall I am happy with it, more realistic than WC2002.

Haha.....ripping of Konami ideas now.....

If you want to see a real soccer game, Pro Evolution 2 is out in Aus on the 14th Nov. ;)

Yeah yeah, I know.....it'd be nice if there was an Xbox version......

If you're a soccer fan, it is seriously worth buying a PS2 for.

$ is a big factor here.

Anyway, I have found that goals are allot harder to score than the previous version, and the game is allot harder.

I've got a bit more practise with the free kick system and quite like it, you can spin the ball back and forward as well as left and right.

I really liked the star players feature in World Cup, sad to see that go. There are a number of things that I liked about World Cup that aren't in this new version too, such as the new system for airplay they had, and the left and right triggers being used to curve the ball. In fact, I don't think you can curve the ball in general play anymore. Not totally sure though.

Another gripe is the international teams. The roster of teams are the exact teams that were in World Cup 2002. So, yes, Senegal are in the game but not Holland.

Don't get me wrong though, this is a great game.
