There will be both dancing and mourning in the street tonight as the controversial Mexican has stepped down as Fighting Fury captain effective immediately.
Sources can reveal that fumbler and tigland will co-captain for the remainder of the season while Chez will continue to be apart of the leadership group.
Chez was able to be reached for comment where he confirmed the decision was official and had the following to say.
'I'm very proud of my four seasons as Fury captain, I can confidently say I worked with the best people involved in the SFA and they made it a real joy to be their leader. Taking the team to back to back grand finals was really special for me, even if we couldn't get that ultimate success.
When asked about the criticism that had come his way Filthy wasn't looking for any fights.
'There's no point in settling old scores now. While I was captain I made a lot of friends and even more enemies, but at least that shows that I was doing something.'
This reporter raised an eyebrow when Chez claimed he had so-called 'friends' but the Mexican was quick to back up his point.
'Tigland is always the first to come to mind when I look at my greatest supporters. Since I started the league we've just clicked with our banter, leadership and support for one another. We're two of the few 'one club players' and without him my SFA experience would've been totally different.'
While this may be goodbye, Chez was quick to assure this was not a farewell.
'Let's make one thing clear, I'm not going anywhere. I still haven't experienced the ultimate success and just because I'm no longer captain, that doesn't mean I'm any less hungry. I'm always hungry. I could go for a burrito right now!
Once this reporter was able to pull the ex-captain away from the food cart Filthy had one final message for the SFA world.
Whether you've loved me like tacos or hated me like beans, thankyou for making the last four seasons so very entertaining for me. Ciao for now Amigos!!
