Can we win 4 more games to make them? This week we play adalaide and the winner of this match, providing that the bulldogs loose to the eagles will be in the eight. From their we would have to win 3 more games we should win 2 against carlton and richmond, but we have to snag 2 against hawthorn, freo or west coast. We may only need to win 3 providing we have a comfortable win against either carlton or richmond. Honestly tomake finals we need to beat hawthorn and then win against richmond and carlton by about 8 goals each game. Looking at this im not so confident about finals but i still believe we can.

If we snap out of our current state of turning up to play 2 quaters we may have a chance.
You're forgetting no matter no good we are and how bad carlton are - they beat us. never pencil a carlton game in for a win! hawks i think are on their way down...although the saints are looking red hot at the moment. should be closer than last time.
Even if we make finals we cant play the MCG anymore anyway. We are getting to cosy at the dome for my liking...

I think we are definitely still in with a chance (particularly with Adelaide, Bulldogs and Sydney losing). We have to beat Adelaide this week and then hopefully defeat Carlton and Richmond. Then if we could win one of the Hawthorn, West Coast or Fremantle games we may sneak into the 8.

Western bulldogs may dropout of the 8 with their run home they play wc nextweek then its st kilda, melbourne, adalaide(aami), hawthorn and the kangaroos. and they have a bad percentage. you look at that and i can only see them winning 1 or 2 of them. which of course is good for us.

who knows, we are so inconsistent this year it is unbeleivable.. adelaide is a must win game imo.. its probably unlikely that we will beat the hawks i beleive we can beat either fremantle or west coast in perth though...

we need to beat richmond and carlton convincingly though, no 8 points wins.. we need the percentage big time...

yeah bulldogs are probably out of it.. sydney will be our big concern.. if we lost to adelaide we wont make the 8 because adelaide have a good percentage so we need to stay a game ahead of them.. sydney also havea good percentage so we need a bit of luck with them, they arent playing too great footy.. they ahve a pretty good finish to the season though. richmond at the SCG next week, pencil that one down, melbourne the week after at the G, hopefully melbourne can beat them for our sake, then saints at telstra stadium (the way the saints are going they will be the swans), brisbane at the gabba (50-50), then collingwood and hawthorn.. realistically they have 4 games that they should win, we just have to hope for some luck..

As soon as we start going on about how other teams have to lose games by certain margins for us to 'mathematically make it', then you know we don't deserve to be there. We just aren't good enough.

If we dont beat Adelaide, our season is well and truly over. Simple as that. We're equal only with Sydney on points, however, our percentage requires us to either win an extra game or win heavily.

If Fletcher is carrying an injury, I dont like our chances of limiting the opposition's scoring heavily against us.

I went through a few permutations to assess our chances of making the 8 and contrary to popular belief, I don't think the evenness of the competition means that you need 13 weeks to make the finals.

However, looking at the draw I think that it is just about certain that the top 7 will be comprised of Geelong, West Coast, Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Collingwood, Sydney and Port Adelaide (in any order). This means that Essendon, Adelaide, St Kilda, Fremantle, Brisbane and Western Bulldogs will all be competing for the last spot in the 8.

Have a look at the draw for these teams, I think it's not unlikely that NONE of them will get to 12 wins, meaning 11 wins with a decent percentage. We obviously need to beat Carlton and Richmond, and if we get into the 8 on 11 wins, we HAVE to beat Adelaide next week, as we would have to get in at their expense. If we are good enough to win 4 more, I think we will come 8th for certain.

The final 8 could look very interesting with the top 7 all on 14 or more wins and lucky 8th spot will be 2 or even 3 games behind 7th.

11 wins won't make it.

We need 12 and the only way of doing that is beating Adelaide and Hawthorn.

I think we can beat Adelaide at the Dome - they have few injuries.

Hawthorn at the G is a different prospect but they are starting to hit the skids a little so maybe we can win that one.

Must.. must win next two to have any chance.

In my opinion 3 of the games we are pretty much no chance.
Hawthorn (they will run us of our legs) Fremantle and West Coast (both away).

We're still a chance to finish 13th!

We'll beat Carlton and Richmond and that's it, finish on 10-12.

St Kilda will probably win 3, and finish higher than us.

I'll go out on a limb and say Freo win will 3 and also finish higher than us.

Brisbane have a tough run and probably won't overtake us.

So I say 10 wins, 12 losses, and a 12th place finish.

Not enough for Sheedy to keep his job.

You know your not going to make it when you have to say IF..... and the more IFs in the sentence the more unrealistic it becomes.

Had we beaten Collingwood or the Bulldogs I could see us making the 8, but we keep losing to the other teams in finals contention.

However IF we start playing better football, and IF our midfield can get some better use of the ball, and IF our key defenders don't get slaughtered again, and IF Lloyd finds some goal kicking form, then I could see us winning some games in the run home.
