I'm trying to work out whether it's a credit to him that that he etched out 140 games or whether it's an indictment on Richmond and St Kilda for letting him get that many.:confused:

An indictment on all parties, more so us than the Aints but then again they persisted after even we realised the error in our ways!! :eek:

I wonder if any supporters actually liked Fiona over the stretch?

He cost the saints practically nothing. He cost us pick 3 and Mathew Pavlich. :thumbsd:

Hard to know if anyone ever actually liked Fiona at any stage Emp.

However was interested when reading the "Who is the most hated AFL footballer" thread on the main board, someone amongst it actually nominated Fiora as "most hated"!

I mean sure, maybe not particularly liked but hated?

It would be like hating your great grandmother because her breath smelled a bit like moth balls or something!

Must say the only thing Fiona was OK at from time-to-time was getting high up to take the odd hanger.

Though if your body weight was never more than that of a sparrow's feather I guess a gust of wind could give you a thermal lift! :o
 
I had hopes for him. Soaring Hart-esque marking, quick, beautiful kick, but just never put it together. I sat near the fence for the 2001 qualifying final mauling by the bummers and yelled at him: "Get into a gym Fiora!" Unfortunately it seems he never took my advice.
But then he did shag Holly Vallance and play over 100 games of league footy, so he's got a bit to draw on down the pub over the years.

So I suppose it's a plus they replaced him with someone of the same stature....

I refuse to believe a very skinny hack who isn't the best looking bloke would even get consideration from suck sensational looking girl.

We essentially picked up Troy Simmonds with our #3 pick that year. I'll take that.



St Kilda give the impression they are desperately trying not to lose grip of their closing window.

Aaron Fiora - Farren Ray
Robert Harvey - Ben Cousins

How are they improving? They'll finish bottom 4 next year.

hey just reading board and seen this

mypersonal thoughts about fiora was the potental was always there and he had some pretty solid games with us but he had more inconsistant games then good ones in our colours...

when he joined with the saints like some of the other players we've taken in (eg jason gram) theyve entered the comp with a bit of hype around them then failed to fire... so if we pick it up its generally a low pick which could swing either way

fiora worked out to go back into his old ways
where as gram lifted his game and has started to become a very strong player

same as king and c gardiner ... king was near the end of his career had not much to offer... but since coming to the saints has been sensational...

c gardiner just failed to get any form hence his delistings....

so in my opp with the entire thing its just a calculated risk.. if you can get a player who has whats needed to be up there but just isnt there at a low pick then they believe give them a run... because what type of quality kid can you get for a pick like 90+ in the psd


anyway ill finish my essay now =P and hope that answered any questions that you guys had on our thoughts
