Mercuri - injury prone
Heffernan - underperfomer, doesn't seem to care
Caracella - valuable, worth something in the market
Blumfield - very disappointing for a player of his abilty
McVeigh - classy but inconsistent
Moorcroft - seems to be out favor
McAlister - next
Alessio - probably safe, due to lack of big man quality

We all seem to agree on the need to trade, but, looking at this list, have we really got that much to offer in the way of deals with other clubs? Maybe youse can come up with some other names.

Who's it going to be kiddies?

EFC: We Hate You Too

Mercuri- Keep been a great servant of our club & I believe still has it in him.
Heffernan- Definatly Tradeable
Caracella- A softy, but valuable, trade for a Ruckman only.
Blumfield- Trade at the right price.
McVeigh- Do not trade, great disposal hard at the footy will improve consistancy with experience.
Moorcroft- Don't you dare, GO THE LITTLE REDNUGGET!!!!
McAllister- Yes
Allesio- Need a good Ruckman before we show Ces the door.

Mercuri - Love him dearly, but I can't help but wonder if his best days are behind him.
Heffernan - I would probably keep him. Form still questionable but when under the pump he appeared to lift a little bit.
Caracella - May have to go to free up cap room; seems like we could get his production out of somebody else for less money. From what I have heard, it sounds like he wants to go elsewhere anyway.
Blumfield - Undecided; jury seems to be still out. Was good early then dropped off.
McVeigh - Keep him. Great tackler, hard at the ball. If he dumps the show pony image he will become a great player.
Moorcroft - Keep him. Heart, attitude, flies the flag as good as any and played better towards the end of the year.
McAlister - Delist.
Alessio - Keep him only if we don't get any other ruckmen. Played one good game this year.

Someone's got to make a few hard decisions.

Most of the players talked about will not relieve a great deal of salary cap pressure.

You either have to trade players worth a lot in the marketplace, work with what you've got, or try to pick up bargains.

Getting rid of Mercs, Slash and Ces won't help.

Our problem is a lack of ruckmen and not winning the ball in the centre often enough.

Get a bit inventive and try Ramma, MJ, Harvey and McVeigh in the centre more.

Get Barnesy to pull on the boots again...with Hille having another year as his understudy.

The alternative involves trading Rioli and Caracella, something I really don't want to see. Other clubs would be interested and that would get you a ready made ruckman. French or Gardiner, anyone?

Sorry about the rant.

Agree with most of that, (not Heffernan though) although i still haven't really seen anything McAlister so i can't really comment on him.

Herffernan is worth another chance. The guy can play, and unless the perfect trade just happens to pop up, then i'd keep him.

McVeigh I completely agree with you. He rarely does anything wrong - just needs a chance to get on the ground from the start! Write McVeigh's name down for a big season next year.

Blumfield - same as Heffernan - only for the perfect trade, otherwise, he HAS to step up a notch next year.

That goes for Caracella too.

we couldn't get a good enough deal for mercs last year, i doubt his value would have improved from this season. I'd keep him.

Obviously if we are looking to trade, somebody must go and i think one of Heffernan, Blumfield and Caracella should be the type of player moved on. Caracella is an awesome finisher, has great skills and is a potential match winner. Blumfield too is the type of player that could turn a match - he gets his fair share of the ball, but his disposal can be questionable. I always thought Heff was a pretty tough player, alot of people disagree, but he's a great tackler and has tagged players with some sucess. When it comes down to it Heffernan and Blumfield can play back/foward/midfield. Both can tag. Blake can win his fair share of ball in the midfield, defensivley i couldn't see him as a run with guy. Blake is a finisher, a quality finisher at that. It's a tough choice, but if the deal was right, I'd move Caracella, only becuase he's slightly less versatile and I feel other clubs would be more likely to accept a trade for him...

McVeigh - i agree Keep him for the reasons stated earlier.

Moorcroft - proved his worth in the final 5 or six games of the year. Definant keep.

McAlister - Delist.

Alessio - we need big bodies.

Trade for a bigun'

Henneman and Caracella / Heffernan for Allan and Merrington / Fevola. You need talls, we need a backman, and proabaly more goals.

Fevola could be a champ, but needs a top coach. Merrington is young and tall, but could be the next Alessio. Allan is a proven Ruckman with bad history with injury.

Well?

The next Alessio?

If that's the case, you can keep him.

The point is, he could be. But he could be the next John Barnes, too - in an good way. He's tall, and stong, and knows how to play, but it's a head thing.
