Date of Birth - 03/06/1993
Recruited Preseason Pick #11 2011
Height/Weight: 193cm, 81kg
Position: Forward

Roberts is a tall key position forward that was key in the Dragons comeback to win the TAC Grand Final 2011, kicking five goals four of which was in the last quarter and collecting twenty-one disposals as well.

In the TAC series, he was avg around 2 goals per game and when he was played in the ruck he was racking up around 15+ hitouts per game, 29 was his career highest against Gippsland Power (3 goals, 29 hitouts)

He is strong in one-one but will need to increase his strength for AFL level but with enough time and games in the VFL he can prove to be a handy player in the future that is already used to play in different areas of the field.

Only time will tell how Roberts goes.

Re: #PSD 11 Fletcher Roberts

Interestingly, he was compared to Liam Jones. Hopefully he can take a good pack mark like Laim can.

I love Laim.

Re: #PSD 11 Fletcher Roberts

Laim is getting good, but im a bit concerned that Roberts is being compared to a developing player and not an established one (if you see the other comparisons, the great majority are established). Suggests to me that he has serious deficiencies.

Had to laugh at Fletcher's nickname. Minson just tweeted he is at some country school with Fletcher Roberts, aka Sid.
Perfect.

Actually some interesting signs coming from the VFL about Roberts. He apparently played well in defense against Casey and had a dominant last quarter against the Northern Blues.
He's still a beanpole at the moment so I doubt he'll play any AFL games this year but another year of development might mean that we'll have another athletic tall KPP that can go at either end.

Smith, Talia, Pearce, Dickson and Roberts - extremely early days but you cant complain about anything so far - could this be another dream draft for us?

Some of the rookies look pretty promising too - wasnt macca saying good things about greenwood? Plus Cambell of course.

Good article about Roberts. Good to have some media about him. He's been impressive this year, let's hope he can keep it up.

He has only been at Whitten Oval for six months but versatile key position Fletcher Roberts has already piled on eight kilograms to his previously light frame.
Through sheer hard work — multiple sessions in the gym daily, eating more and drinking protein shakes devotedly, Roberts has considerably bulked up and now faces a new set of challenges.

The new Shaggy?

Would love to see that happen. I see him as a more mobile tall defender than Talia (although Talia moves quite well also so that isn't a slight on him) so he could work well intercepting marks or cutting off kicks with a well timed spoil.

His disposal impressed me on the weekend, really solid, nice kicking action and generally good decisions. If he develops to be able to stop AFL level forwards, he will be a very handy player for us. CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC.

I wonder if he'll play more in the forward line next season or play down in defense, I think he could be a perfect cover for a third tall that could drift up forward occasionally

How's Fletch going this year? Any chance of him getting a run for the dogs later in the year?

He has played well in the VFL and was close to getting a call up, but at the moment he's injured. Not sure when he's due back, but if he keeps his pre-injury form up he'll definitely get a game, probably in the role Marko's trying to play now.

out for the next 3-4 weeks
will def come back stronger will push for seniors later in the year

will become a important swing man for us.

Fletch is back into training and fit to play this week. Can't wait to see him back in the AFL side in hopefully a few weeks. Besides Stringer he is the player I most excited about, just something about him.
