Is anyone surprised that in his first game back Fletch was BOG?

I'm not.

It seems to me that Fletch is and has been our best FIRST ball getter all year. He seems to read the taps better than Kerr and Judd, and is able to feed one of them or Cousins or kick it straight into the forward half.

He could be the middle man we have been missing.

Wonder if he picked up any votes yesterday.

Also, did anyone notice that whenever Judd was given half a centimetre to move, he was off like a 100 metre sprinter and no one could touch him? No wonder the other sides have been double and even triple teaming him around stoppages.

Having Fletch back, who has been all class this season, is really going to go a long way to stretching opositions midfields, which is pretty much the Eagles greatest strength. At their best this year, with Gardiner and Embley also back, teams struggled to control all of them.

With Embley back in the team, I would doubt Judd will get the double team treatment, you can't leave Embley free wheeling.

It's the same with all good midfields I guess. Look at Brisbane last year, nobody could cover them all, so eventually you would just be blown out the water, and guys like Des Headland, can get a great free running thing happening - a luxury he hasn't been afforded very often at Freo, that's not a jive at Des, but I think it says alot for having a talent stacked midfield.

And hey lets face it, when teams spend more time worrying about how to cover your strength rather than how to make the most of their own, your already on top.

So yeah, Fletch back is great, Embley back will be better though because we'll really be able to stretch teams then.
