86-05 is staying longer than expected in the search area:

Could they be on to something?

Supposed to be in port on the 20th at 05:00 hours for a one day resupply / staff changeover visit to Freo.

Search conditions are optimal only up until April. Looks to me like they've got 3 more 28 day search windows before calling it a day for the season.

It's not an efficient way to operate and for sure more expensive.
Difficult to maintain the equipment on a ship. And they don't have enuf room to do it.
Going back to Freo would save time also.

I guess the only real way to maintain a round the clock search for the whole search season (start of Jan to start of April) would be running 2 ships and that's simply too expensive on a no find, no fee basis.

Search operations conducted onboard Armada 8605 covered a cumulative area of approximately 7,236.40 square kilometres as of Jan 15, 2026, according to the MH370 Search Operation Summary Progress Report (Jan 5 - Jan 16, 2026) posted on the Association for Families of the Passengers and Crew on board MH370 (MH370 Families) Facebook.

It said the search activities were carried out within the Southern Indian Ocean sector of the 7th arc and utilised up to three Hugin Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), with activities largely uninterrupted between Jan 6 and Jan 14.

Weather conditions were favourable for sustained surveying efforts until Jan 14, before operations were halted on Jan 15 due to inclement weather, with all three AUVs safely recovered onboard Armada 8605.

"The operation continues to progress methodically within the defined search area, with further outcomes dependent on continued surveying and favourable operational conditions,” it added.

Following the extended period, Armada 8605 is scheduled to return to Fremantle for crew change before subsequent activities.

The two week resupply mission requirement is going to waste 6 weeks of the 16-20 week search window. Maybe that's why Shah crashed the plane out there - he knew logistically how difficult a search would be. There are few areas on earth that are more difficult logistically.

Like watching grass growing.
Very interesting

What do you have against the search? It is only being funded if the aircraft is found. Otherwise no government money is used. Don't you believe finding out what caused this aircraft to end up crashing in the Indian Ocean being important for aviation safety?

Shah didn’t crash anything anywhere. They’re chasing their tails on this crazy theory. Almost as bad as the Russians shooting down MH17.

It's not a theory. Wreckage from the aircraft was recovered around the Indian Ocean. Satellite transmissions from the aircraft ceased somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

Don't be ridiculous. The Russians shot MH17 down. They also shot down Azerbaijan Airlines too.

ICAO found Russia responsible for MH17 https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/05/1163161

Netherlands / JIT also found that Russia was guilty on MH17

There is no capacity to honestly claim Russia was not responsible for MH17.
