BUMP!

We know of Tom Hawkins' father Jack Hawkins, paternal uncles Michael and Robb and maternal grandfather Fred Le Deux, all former Geelong players.

How many know of Tom's deep deep deep links to the Geelong Cats?

The links stretch far and wide.

He's also related to another Geelong F/S duo in Tim and Terry Callan and yet another Geelong F/S duo in John and Harold "Peter" Hardiman plus Peter's brother Les. (John's brother Tom also played for Geelong.)

Tom's maternal grandmother had the maiden name Brushfield and her brother is Brian Brushfield and her father was the brother of Nick Brushfield.

Came across this in an article from The Age's Greg Baum about the De Konings. (Tom and Sam.)

"The family tree doesn’t stop at the front door. Sam recently discovered that he is a fourth cousin to Toby Conway, Geelong’s first draft pick in the 2021 draft. They already knew that they were related to the McCartins of Sydney."

Doing some digging, there are 2 new names to be added to this.

First, you see the surname Hardiman, that's the surname of all of these players' mutual ancestors. (Patrick Hardiman and his wife, Margaret Hartigan.)

Former Carlton AFLW player and current Roo Danielle Hardiman is another part of this Hardimania.

She's also a first cousin of former Swan and Blue Jason Saddington.

Saddington is also part of this Hardimania.

My favorite one was jack hannath formerly a Fremantle player and Jonathan Giles of (GWS and every other afl club) were first cousins

BUMP!

Can someone please try and unlock this?

Thank you.

What's the chance of creating the ultimate VFL/AFL family tree? With ancestry.com we could uncover enough links to create something good. Every US President from Washington to Obama (except for van Buren) has a common ancestor in the man who signed the Magna Carta himself, King John.

Good question.

It'd have to be pretty English-Irish-Scottish for the mass amount of connections.

Ancestry, each state's BDM plus the UK.

At a cursory glance, the best way to start would be Jackson and Zac Merrett.

The Lord twins on one side.
The Merrett and co on the other.
