Our forward line struggled to function properly against Adelaide. It will have to be much better against West Coast. The problem is, our foward line is considered to be a strong forward line. What are our options apart from fev?
Fish-max 3-4 goals in a game
betts-rarely kicks bags

the rest of our forward line consists of resting ruckman or midfielders playing forward.
How do we win games with fev not kicking a bag?
we cant rely on fev all the time.

Hawthorn showed that when Franklin didn't kick a bag they had a guy like Roughead there to help out. We tried Hartlett yesterday and he looked pretty good in the 1st quarter but the guy keeps getting injured. What's the future for him???

We've tried to mould Fish into this second forward type of player, but his bigger problem is that he's a guy to kick goals aside Fevola unfortunately, not when Fevola isn't kicking goals. We need another strong, self reliable goal scorer, much like Roughead to Franklin.

Harts is horrible with injury - he seems to always do a hammy when we need him, or get suspended.

Our main problem is we dont have a deciated and reliable CHF, if we had one they could direct traffic to the others and chip in with one or two a game. We have to get one via a trade or draft this year.

By the end of the year i'd like to see:

FF: Betts Fevola Kruezer
HF: Stevens Hartlett Fisher

with edwards replacing Kruezer when he is rucking or off the ground.

We have to try something different. Gibbs ,Waite or persevere with Setanta. We are too predictable ,if Fev doesn't kick a bag or our mids. are well held we cannot find alternate avenues to goal and we will continue to drop games or fall away when leading. It is seriously looking like our biggest weakness. Whilst Kruezer will develop into a more than capable forward/ruck a 194cm + forward is a priority.

l cannot see how Hartlett can be considered again until he shows over a significant period that his body can stand up to AFL, as losing one player in todays footy is critical, the best option may be to rotate Cloke and Kruezer as CHF for the remainder of the season, with Hampson off the bench in the ruck, this may be the best option until we can source a key forward option post season.

If this were to be the case, then where would Cloke/Hammer/Other ruckman go to as a secondary position if we've already got a tall in the HF line?

well our backline 'was' looking good
be interesting on the assesment of thorton
but i always feel we are better with waite up forward
he has potential too kick bags of 6-8
showed that against hawthorn few years back

Ackland was very dangerous today and will come into the side

I've seen grand mothers with more agility than Ackland and he can't take a uncontested mark let alone contested ones. His kicking and decision making are atrocious. He did a 20 meter time trial in pre season and the time keeper had time to go for a crap before he flopped over the finish line.

your side is shit. judd kruezer fev still bottom 8

Your post is full of shit. Go back and watch your last grand final victory. Oh I forgot, they didn't have TV back then. You are welcome to watch and admire any one of our 16 flags as the 2000 replay still probably causes your tears to freeze as you ski down the slopes of Mt Bulla. Run away little Ricky and watch some of our history as your team probably won't be around for much longer.:D

at least waite runs
tackles
works his ass off
and creates miracle team lifting goals
he is one of those players that just has that ability to turn a game on its head
Exactly, but from the backline, not the forward line:thumbsu:.

Carlton can ill afford to wait til season's end to try and land a KPP to ratify there current lack of forward options. I have said this previously but get Waite up at CHF he has played some brilliant football up forward and would give opposition teams more to think about than just Fev, Hartlett needs time. I want to see the Blues persevere with the O'hAilpin boys, Setanta stands at 196cm and Aisake at 200cm now tell me if there is not potential for a backline spine there? Setanta shows good determination and aggression towards big forwards like Hall, Gehrig and Brown aswell.

No, No, No, leave Waite at CHB. We need to settle at least one end of the ground. We now have all our run with, running Half Back players injured (Walker, Bannister, Thornton & Houlahan)
We can only have so many "kids" in the side before we start playing like the "Ants".
Now we have Hampson injured (maybe back, but not fit) and maybe Cloke.
As much as some don't like Ackland he is back in the Ants after a long injury and he cannot be fit??
So, we are missing half our best backlne, half of our potentially good talls and our likely CHF in Hartlett.
Therefore: Wiggins must come in and go to FF, Fevola to CHF.
On the basis Hampson is not available and Cloke is injured we must bring in Ackland for the ruck, Sentana for the back half and Aisake to the ruck and FP.
Then we need as many small runners we can fit in.
If you were West Coast you would be thinking that Carlton will fade in the game due to their exhaustive game last week (injuries prevented rotation) only a 6 day break and the worst travel gig in the game.
We need to try and get the ball to the ground and have as many small nippy players we can get on the park. This could mean having nearly half the team with less than 20 games each but what choice do we have for this comming week.
