Fraser and Didak only "Untouchables"

Collingwood chief executive Greg Swann yesterday declined to comment about a possible trade for Tarrant, but said he was aware of interest from the two WA clubs as well as Melbourne and St Kilda.
Swann said the only "untouchable" experienced players at Collingwood leading into trade week were Josh Fraser and Alan Didak.

Obviously he's not talking about the young guys (Thomas etc), but usually clubs wouldn't even mention who the thought was "Untouchable". I would have thought that Rocca would be on that list, as well as Clement at the very least.

Well, Rocca CAN'T be traded, as he's coming into the 1st year of his new contract.

Clement, like many of the other players that you might expect to be on the list is simply one that most likely won't be traded.

As I've said in the past, there are no players that we wouldn't trade if Carlton offered us Pick #1 and Marc Murphy, or West Coast offered us Chris Judd and Daniel Kerr. Everyone has a price.

However, Josh Fraser and Alan Didak are two that we will keep, because trading them would be trading the lifeblood of the club.

Making up theoretical lists of untouchables is a waste of time. We currently have 38 on our list. When the season starts, about 30 of them will still be there.

Why would Fraser be untouchable? Honestly a bloke his height that weak overhead and average in the ruck is hardly a franchise player. He is a good footballer but if we were offer pick 1 for him tomorrow we’d be crazy not to take it. If we were offered Judd and knocked it back I’d go postal and I’d hope everyone else would too.

If we traded Fraser we’d have to get a ruckman, or go with Richards, Fanning and C. Cloke. There are endless options from getting someone’s discarded semi hack ruckman to trading for Everitt or whatever. As it is we face the exact same question if Fraser gets injured and we went into this year on the back of a virtually full season to him anyway. Frankly I don’t think Fraser should be the number 1 ruckman anyway. He just isn’t a good enough ruckman.

What about Beau McDonald from Brisbane? He was delisted.
I know he has been injuried, but so many ruckmen have. I think he is worth a shot. He is younger then all the available 'mature' ruckmen, isnt he?

Subject to a favourable medical report I’d take him for sure. All trades depend on price though. If he was there in the PSD he’d be worth a punt for sure IMO.

i would jump at the chance to trade rocca if we could get something decent for him. sick of his inept performances when we need him to stand up. i'd rather keep taz.
