Heinz-Harald Frentzen was sacked last night from the Jordan F1 team, effective immediately! His replacement will be Jordan test driver and former BAR driver Ricardo Zonta, who also deputised for Frentzen at the Canadian GP.

Frentzen is suing Eddie Jordan for wrongful dismissal, just before his home GP as well! Sounds like this one could get messy, but a bit of a surprise to say the least.

stupid decision. Yeah he has had a tough year...so has Hakkinen but you dont see Mclaren sacking him. Frentzen is a top driver, i cant believe they would make this decision JUST because he has had a bad year. Something else must of been involved. Trulli hasnt been much better either.

Zonta...he may do alright - cant really say he impressed at BAR tho.

Seems very strange to me...there hasn't even been whispers of Jordan been unhappy with HHF until last night.

Obviously there has been a personality clash somewhere, because I find it hard to believe that he would be sacked on his driving ability alone. Sure, he's had a bad year, but like Macca19 said, so has Mika. And remember, this is the guy who just 2 years ago was winning races and a chance for the world championship in a Jordan. So he has talent.

Zonta was reasonable in Canada, but was pathetic in the BAR, I'd say he will only stay until the end of the season, and Eddie Jordan will try to get Fisichella or Button out of their Benneton contracts in exchange for the promise of handing over Trulli to Renault in 2003.

My tip: Fisichella to Jordan, Webber into Bennetton, and HHF to find a home at another team...ppossibly Jag or BAR. Trulli will stay.

No, I think Hakkinen will give it one more year, and retire at end of 2002. The end of 2002 will be when all the big moves occur.

I'm just praying that Kimmi Raikkonen ends up at Ferrari - absolute bloody legend that guy, would be a tragedy if he drove for the evil empire (ie McLaren)

Dont worry about that. Kimi is a certainty for a ferrari drive in the future. Rubino's contract finishes at the end of 2002, and ferrari have stated that they wont be renewing his contract at all. If i was a betting man i would put $1000 on Kimi being Schumachers partner for 2003 and 2004. I would also expect to see Nick Heidfeld back at Mclaren but as their no.2 driver to coulthard in 2003.

Does anyone here get F1 Racing magazine?? Ive been subscribed to it for 3-4 years now and its a top magazine. There is a fantastic article on Kimi in the recent issue which is a good read.

I still cant believe Frentzen has been sacked!!! Unbelivable

Yeah, I subscribe to F1 Racing as well...absolutely top notch mag, always good articles and pics. That's why I'm so surprised about HHF getting the heave-ho, normally F1 Racing is reporting things like that well before they happen.

What does that achieve? Frentzen would still do way better than Zonta. Like the coaches, it would be better to wait to the end of the year.

Yup fantastic mag. Yeah F1 Racing's reporters usually are right up there with the news on whats happening.
One of the best magazines on the market
