Now if you know your junior footy you'd be well aware of Whitefriars successful campaign in winning the MCC Herald Sun Shield.

Just wondering how does everyone see they TAC Cup players from the winning team.

Here is how I would rank them:

1. Marc Murphy - skilled player who will be taken Father/Son next year after dominating the National Champs this year. Only thing that will stop him from playing footy is a spot in the Aussie cricket side. Should have been named in the AA side IMO but was rewarded with an AIS scholarship, another one to add to his cricket scholarship.

2. Andrew Gilham - Border line whether he will be drafted or not this year but if he's not it won't be the last of him. Great player with a strong grab who is extremely confident in his own ability. Brother Stephen looking to break through at Port and wouldn't suprise me to see Andrew drafted there.

3. Michael Prendergast - Captain of the 'Friars team and winner of the Neil Daniher Medal in the final of the MCC Shield. Probably got the best skills out of the lot of them on both sides of his body and could run all day until the cows came home. Fantastic work ethic and if he wasn't as small no doubt would have been drafted. Has the ability to get 10 possessions in 5 minutes and doesn't shirk an issue.

4. Adam Wilson - Despite being U16 he played in the Grand Final for Eastern this year. Has 2 years of TAC CUP left in him and will be one to look forward to in years to come. Prolific ball winner who has damaging skills and a motor to burn. A member of the Victorian U16 side which played in the National Champs this year.

5. John Laver - Injury hit this year which meant he didn't play a game for Friars, played a bit for Oakleigh but didn't get back to his 2003 form. Invited to the state screening and would have had a higher profile if not injured in 2004. Player to watch in VFL ranks and could very well crack AFL one day.

6. Stuart Hill - Key Position player who can play back or forward, played extremely well in the Pre-lim v Oakleigh this year kicking multiple goals. Moves extremely well for a big boy and has a great sense of decision making.

7. James Baranello, bottom age ruckman who played a handful of games for Oakleigh this year. Tall and mobile player who can play up forward and kick goals. Will look for bigger imput this year as a top age player.

Would be interesting for someone in the know at St.Bernards to write up a similiar report and compare the two schools who played in 3 epic football games throughout the year, with all games being decided by under 8 points with Whitefriars being the victor in all.

Wilson will be much better than all of them

This year we had no stand-out guns who are a real chance at getting drafted, just a very even team across the board. It was interesting to play against them, they had a lot of guns who are standing out in the football ranks, whereas we've got a lot who aren't being noticed and are finding it hard to stand out in this highly populated Cannons/Jets area. Still, they were fantastic matches this year. In fact all the matches over the years have been close ones.

Sam Robertson played Calder earlier in the year but lost his spot eventually. He is a bottom-age though so he will have another chance next year.

James Wall played with Calder in the finals. He is a ruckman but didn't get a lot of time on the park. He's also bottom-age so look out next year for him at Calder.

After that, I don't think our year level had any more permanent Calder or Jets players, although there were some who played a couple of games this year and pretty much the whole team at one stage has played Calder/Western in their careers.

Friars were lucky to get into the sheild, De La should have thumped them

De La was garbage this year. Came third or fourth in the ACC, had no chance of getting the Herald Shield.

Well said, De La put forward their weakest team for a few years this year.

Sam Robertson is a gun, while he may appear as the villain in the final because of his shot at goal that went straight into the man on the mark in the final minutes he still should hold his head up high as he was one of the Bernards best players for the day.

Wrong side mate.

I think Robertson would still be kicking himself over losing the Shield for win club.

Well he was spewing about it, but no one is blaming him for the loss, it was a team effort. He did his best throughout the whole season. Hope he makes it in the future.
