I have been reading up on this aussie horror film for a few days, and am quite eager to check it out. I cant find it at and video store, or places like sanity and HMV. Does anyone know where I might be able to find it? I know that it came out on video in 1997, but thats about it..

Also, Im looking to rent Cradle of Fear. Again its quire hard to find. The only copy that I found was $30.. and im not going to spend that much on a film i havent yet seen.

Thanks for your help.

I suppose "Funny Games" is an 'Aussie' film....If you consider AUSTRIANS to be Aussies. It is a very disturbing film, available on video, it also surfaces on SBS from time to time. The same director, Michael Haenke, also made the equally bleak "Benny's Video" and "The Piano Teacher", both of which are well worth a look...but you'll be slashing your wrists afterwards.

I hadn't heard of "Cradle of Fear" until you mentioned it. Apparently it is a sort of homage to the portmanteau horros made by Amicus studios in the early 70s. Could be worth a gander if that is the case.

Yeah, i've read up on haneke quite a bit, and from what i have read, this guy know what he wants to get acrros the the veiwer. None of that hollywood "the good guy always wins", but more of what would really happen.. well, thats what i get from some of the films i've read up on.

I took a look at 'benny's video".. seems like an interesting concept.. a guy killing someone just to see what it felt like.. would be worth a look.

Im not really sure about Cradle of Fear myself, only read about it on horror forums. I belive that the members of the metal band Cradle of Filth had something to do with it.. the cradleoffear.com website goes into further detail.

Thanks for your help sandeano, do you know where i could find 'funny games' on video? i cant seem to find it... i'll also look out for it on sbs.. cheers

For "Funny Games" I can almost guarantee you'll find the film at the following stores - Video Dogs in Faraday St. Carlton, Inferno Video in Elizabeth St. City, Movie Reel in High St. Northcote, Video Busters in Smith St. Collingwood or Movieland on Lygon St. East Brunswick.
