Hey guys,

Just wondering who is the most likely candidate to be Carltons next captain?
Obviously Judd is still a very good captain and player, but in 5 years will it be Murphy? Russell? or is it expected that Judd will be captain for so long the next one isn't on the list as yet?

Thanks.

Probably does depend on how long Judd plays for, but then I can see him handing the captaincy over to someone else once he hits 30-32ish and starts playing some bit parts.

Right now, Murphy is in the box seat but then the Blues do love their dominant ruckman and Big Nick and Fitzy have been two of our more inspiring captains. Kreuzer loves the club and would make a fine skipper with some more voice.

Jamison is probably the most level headed of all candidates right now, so it may depend on whether we want a skipper on the last line away from the action, whether his injury issues sort themselves and whether his form is maintained. Would be another good choice.

not sure how murphy is in the 'box seat' to captain the club next? because he is our 2nd best player? thats not how it works.

If judd was to retire now, next captain would be either jammo or simmo. Russell and Gibbs could be being groomed for future roles.

Ok thanks guys.

Jamo surprises me, but I guess that's because he is a fairly low key player in the media, don't hear much from him.

Gibbs seems a likely candidate from my perspective.

Judd is not likely to retire now, and I don't think Murphy is in the box seat because he is our second best player.

I expect Judd to hold the captaincy for another 3-4 years at least. By this time Murph will be in the second half of his career. He definitely leads by example, is popular within the team and playing in the midfield, is more present around the ground.

Not saying it will pan out that way, but we are predicting where they will be in 4 years time and I believe Murphy will have more claims over the captaincy by this time.
