This is not a crack at Carlton, but i was interested whether u believed the Blues have a future in the next 5 years, ie. finals. I know it's been tough without the draft picks last time the spoon was won, but do u believe that with the next picks and the players u have at the moment finals are a possibility in the next couple of year. I'd like to hope so as i enjoy watching Carlton at their best.

when teams hit rock bottom they generally take 2-3 yeras to re build
in carlton's case with the penalties (we did the crime) the rebuilding takes 4-5 years.

as has been shown in the last few weeks carlton will no longer offer contracts in the same way they did previously.

this will (in theory) allow for a much greater spread of talent and less reliance on 5-6 guns

2004 draft was the 1st real year of our rebuild.

a realistic aim should be to make the 8 in 2008

if we have a lot of luck with injuries, trades & draft picks and some clever drafting & recruiting, 2007 may be a finals year (unlikely but this would require a judd like pick up in the draft along with may other factors to fall into place)

2006 6-9 wins
2007 8-12 wins
2008- top 8 finish

we are no better off now than we were when Pagan first came to the club and that was 3 seasons ago.

We have better young players, a worse senior group, and the same crappy mid-aged players. However, i prefer this list due to the young talent available....

Agree. Some long term players have been chosen in Russell, Blackwell, Raso and the Irish boys who are going to take time to come on but are very good prospects. Just we wanted our middle tier to come through but they have not.
