Came out in 79 so it would have been early eighties. But I think we discovered it in the late 80's and played it all the time.

I played one very similar, each turn a planet would produce a certain number of ships, and it would take a certain number of rounds for a fleet to get from one planet to the next. mates and I would play all night on a mates Atari. I had a commodore 64 so I wrote the game myself in Basic.

Yeah I think we tried to rewrite it with more features.

I just found Neptune's Pride through a friend's group - apparently everyone else has played it. Similar style but with research and banking not just ship building. Having a good time with it.
