Because they rocked!

Games aren't all about looks you know!

They did rock, ten years ago.....times have changed, technology has developed, and now games are about looks as well as gameplay. I suggest you buy yourself a PS2 or ask Santa to put one under your tree this year, and i can just about guarantee that you won't be playing SNES games anymore :)

Oh Christ, here we go.... :D

Dude - I make games for a living.

I play games every day.

The PS2 is a box of shhit!

Check this link out and you might learn something about the way Sony go about brainwashing people such as yourself -

http://gamespot.zdnet.pt/forum/messages/4889.shtml

( i bet you didn't know the DC had TWICE the amount of video memory? And i'm sure it was you that said "games are about looks as well as gameplay.")

You also say "techonology has developed" - then surely you would want the most advanced console then?

And the PS2 ain't it buddy!

The DC itself has better looking textures, and when used properly pushes more polys than PS2.

Yet you are suggesting i buy a PieceOf****2? Why? I've owned a DC for the past 2 years with games that crap all over anything Sony or EA can dish out. The fact it died in Aus is due to shhit distribution by OziSoft, and media brainwashing by Sony.

Technically, X-Box and GameCube crap on PS2. (with X-Box being slightly more powerful than the Cube....plus it has built in broadband support.)

In the meantime, i suggest you get yourself a DC and some real games and you might just start to get a clue! ;)

I have a PS2. I bought it for the FEW games on it that are going to be any good. But that's because i'm surrounded by games every day, and i'm also working on games in development for the bloody thing. It would be a bit silly not to have one really. I'll definately also be buying X-Box, and maybe (if i have the money) a Cube too.

I guarantee you that you would have more fun playing Dragon Warrior on the NES than you would playing Final Fantasy XXXVIII on the PoS2. Don't believe me? Download an NES emulator on find out for yourself.

And if you want to save yourself the embarresment of forking out $500 for a technically inferior box of shhit, (unless you've already bought one), wait for X-Box, or buy a DC now as it's just as powerful.

I guess it's just a shame Sega don't lie to the public about the performance of their hardware. Sony on the other hand......

cheers!

I never said that PS2 are the best in the world. I am personally waiting for X Box. I was just using PS2 as an example. All i am trying to say was why bother using old technology, but if you choose to then do as you please.

But you said that "technology has come a long way" and then quoted the PS2 as an example - and example that is already outdated and has a rival console that's been out a year longer that is a much better overall gaming machine.

Do you give everybody you speak to that advice? I hope not!

It's like me telling you that "computers have come along way you know so i suggest you buy yourself a Pentium II or ask Santa to put one under your tree this year, and i can just about guarantee that you won't be playing Commodore64 games anymore."

Which would be bullshhit on two counts:

a) A Pentium 2 (like the PS2) is hardly the best example of a good gaming console/computer, and

b) C64 games rock! Just because they may not look as pretty, doesn't mean that the gameplay becomes obsolete. A good game is a good game, just as a good movie is a good movie, or a good album is a good album - regardless of which year it was made in.

Can i assume that you also look down on movies that were made before 1990?

You know - times have changed, technology has developed, and now movies are about looks as well as story......

Games are just another artform and when you say that "they did rock, ten years ago...." i find that pretty ignorant as i've got a shhitload of old games that would keep you occupied for years, even today.

cheers!

Exactly. I've actually been buying old SNES carts off ebay. They're SOOO cheap! :D

You really need to get off your high horse. I will say it again, i used the PS2 as an example of newer technology. I didnt' say it was the best. I couldn't care less if it is the best or not. BTW, a Pentium II is irrelevant. The PS2 is no where near the age of those things. Why bring it up?

Movies that are ten years old can have good storylines. But do you realise, we are not talking about movies. Movies can be, i suppose compared to games. You dig them out once in a while, but you don't make a habit of it, if they are that old. I simply can't see why you would choose a game from a C64 or SNES, over the latest game on a PS2, Dreamcast or PC for that matter. The ironic thing is, a lot of the games are just newer versions of old games. That should keep you happy. Old storyline - new graphics. A lot more pleasure to the eye.

I can understand that old games might appeal, but surely because of their age, you would, i assume, have outplayed them. That is why i am saying to move on to newer technologies and newer consoles.

Lots of people enjoy appreciating old games. You seem to act as though anything that is new is better than anything that is old, and that's just ignorance.

I'd rather play Space Invaders on my Atari2600 than play some of the crap that is made these days.

Move on?

I have!

I bought a DC at launch, a PS2 a couple of months ago, and i'll more than likely buy an X-Box at launch.

But i'm still allowed to play my SNES games if i like.

Perhaps you should play some older games and you might start to understand that they still stand up against the best games today.

I'm hanging out for the x_box as well. I never said you couldn't play your snes games, i made a comment saying why bother. You have shared your case, i have shared mine, i'm now kinda over it.
