Because they are double damage. We just coughed up 8 gettable points over the last couple of weeks and were a bit lucky in relation to a couple of people in the top 4 & 8 losing. This week when our two teams clash we get to influence those teams who are threatening us the most. It is almost an 8 point round because not only does the winner get 4 points but they stop the loser from gaining an important 4 points. The top 4 battle is on.

Good luck guys. I wish Josh Hunt was playing :( Hopefully Big H gets up.

And I am praying for good umpires because if we win I want it to be sweet and if we lose I hope it is to the better team. This year I am glad we crushed a few teams because the focus was off how badly the men in white got it. Geelong games have been disgracefully umpired, not biased, but definately not cool.

Thanks for the thoughts there Scotty.

I won't recripocate the best of luck thought though because I do want us to win. ;)

Looks like being a cracker of a game and a battle of two good mid-field whick IMO will probably decide the result of the game.

As you say it could be one of those deciding moments re each team's top 4 chances, due to the 8 points relativity of the game.

May the best team win, and I hope it's us. ;)

Just on Playfair Scotty, what's the word from Vic about his likelihood of getting up? He has seemed pretty important to Geelong's structure this year. Also same deal with Joel Corey, what are his chances?

If Playfair and Hunt miss, and Corey too, I will be quite a bit more confident going into the game.

We all expect Geelong will bounce back after 2 defeats, but the Saints didn't against us. I'm still tipping Geelong, but I'm definitely getting pretty excited about this one.

Playfair will play, unless one of you buggers plan some kind of secret attack :)
Corey...I'm not 100% sure, but more confident each day...I would guess 65/35 to play
And I think both me & Scotty share the same opinion of Ottens...

He has been more than handy for us, infact, he has been great.
Not tearing games apart likely Brown or Hird, etc...but doing more than the realists expected (not most of the richmond psycho's), which is great.
Also, he has hidden how down on form Kingy is in the ruck.
Ottens...doing fine.

I hope its a great game this sunday because I'm not wasting a $350 return flight to watch a hopeless game!

Go the crows!!
You could get a jet star flight for about 27$ a few weeks ago - and it goes to Avalon near Geelong - we have the no 1 geelong adelaide supporter at work and he went over the freo game - poor bugger - but glad he didnt have to cough up 350$!!

I think Playfair will play. They will really want Corey to get up as he was the leading possesion getter in the comp before he had his knee cleaned and we are missing him with blokes like Tenace and Byrnes going a bit cold - Blackjack is ice cold right now, second year blues.

Ottens out of 10. A solid 8. He kick pressure goals against Port and the Saints from distance. His rucking has been amazing especially as King is having a lot of trouble coping with the new centre circle especially after the injuries he has had. I wish Dog (stevie) Johnson was in the team as Ottens ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS creates a contest inside 50. Watch on the weekend, everytime he gets the ball kicked to him he will either mark it or get both hands to it. Whoever you play on him will not take a contested mark against him. That is invaluable. To think that we have this bloke for a few more years is very exciting. Hopefully a young father and son in Mark blake can come good in the ruck so we can play Ottens up forward more, the problem at the moment is that we always get smashed in the middle if he isnt rucking. He would kick at least 60 goals as a permenent forward. I have no doubts.

I will stop tossing him off now ;)

That suprises me. I'm amazed Richmond, and to a lesser extent Geelong, waste Ottens in the ruck.

I wish we didn’t have to use him in the ruck. The reasons are two fold:
1. We said we also wanted a 2nd ruckman at the start of this year as we really only had Kingy. Last year Cam Mooney was our second ruckman and he was serviceable but never actually won a tap. Really every team needs two quality ruckman, even if one is more a backup.
2. Kingy has been massively down on form. He has had Achilles and shoulder operations over the last few years and this new centre circle has made it very hard for the big bloke. He is more your bash and crash ruckman, a massive massive man who can use his body. This has been taken away and his leap has been hindered because of his injuries. He was even saying in the first three rounds he couldn’t put one arm above his head properly because of the shoulder op. It is sad to see a rule change designed to prolong the careers of ruckman cut so many existing ruckman down. To this extent Ottens has had to ruck a lot. When he rucks we win the ball out of the centre, which ironically is when we want him forward.
