Review Games On Review Thread

Going back through this thread - I didn't realize that we came off 6 day breaks both times we versed Port during the H&A. Geez, the AFL really screwed us over with that one.

watching our R20 vs Hawthorn - my favorite game from 2014. what a thing of beauty that 3rd quarter was.

Just watched that game again last night. How good was Pav in that game?

He kicked 5 goals on Brian Lake.

Fyfe was heavily tagged by both Langford and Lewis so they moved him to a half forward flank which broke the game open. I also thought that Hayden Crozier did a great job filling in for Ballaz.

Sandi and Mundy just destroyed Hawthorn in the clearances and how good was Stephen Hill?
What a game, although we fumbled the ball a lot in the first half.

We really copped a bad run with the umpires in the first half too. Luke Hodge's staging was disgusting and cost us two goals.

About that R20 game, I think the first quarter we got out of jail free with Hawthorn's inaccuracy. I shudder to think how things would have turned out if they had gotten out to a good lead. As it was, we ground ourselves into that game in the 2nd and just grew in confidence to go goal for goal in the second and put our foot to the throat in the third.

Anyway, I was watching the Collingwood game tonight, we absolutely shredded them. Those coast to coast goals and our ball use were top notch. Losing Walters so early in the year really hurt our season, he and Ballas in tandem are so hard to defend against. It just changed the dynamic of the team and cost us another dangerous scoring option in the forward line. Ballas was in real good touch that game.

Also watched the 1st derby. WCE didn't do too badly and had their chances in the 2nd. I still back our mids to smash theirs, but I think we can never count any derby as a gimme. Our work rate and ball use and finishing was a class above and the difference in that game.

I recently watched both derbies again and the Eagles were so desperate to win these games in order to try and salvage their season. And we just seemed to coast through both games and only put our foot down in order to win the game and nothing more. Our backline pressure forced the Eagles into having blind shots on goal which once again cost the game due to inaccuracy.

It was great in the first derby watching Lachie Neale make a fool out of Matt Ploddis, and in the second derby, watching Nat Fyfe and Stephen Hill tearing them apart. Shame we didn't bury them both games like we should have.

Getting a pretty good run on Close Encounters of 2014 on the Fox Footy channel so far. 2nd Derby, Carlton at home and Geelong at Simonds.

God we w

God we were horrible in that Carlton game, I'm surprised we won.
I sometimes remind Carlton supporters that we shouldn't have won because the panic kick that went straight to Lachie didn't travel 15 metres. It doesn't seem to appease them.

Did you have to riteo, now I won't be able to keep my dinner down. I had successfully repressed that thorough rogering by the umpires.

Sorry, was going through a thread on the main board and then I saw Grape Bear's post at the top of this page and one thing led to another. Was the most baffling thing I've seen since Matt Carr's opponent was asked whether he wanted Carr's point to stand or retake the kick after giving away a free many moons ago.

That game was a total emotional rollercoaster. Being so furious with the gang banging from the umpires that entire game, mostly in the first half; seeing the heart from our players to make a strong comeback, particularly with Barlow grabbing his guernsey and then the heartbreak with Mundy missing :(

**** Geelong.

Tell me about it, was my birthday that night

**** Geelong indeed.

Peeved we're not playing them at Subi this year and only at the Simmonds shithole

At least it'll enrage them beyond belief when we smack them in front of their feral flog fans.

Just a fyi, Freo have never won on my birthday, this year we play the Saints at Etihad on my bday. I'm so sorry.

Thanks for the heads up, I won't be watching that game :P

Just re-watched the 2013 GF for the first time.....very hard to watch. Awful kicking on goal of course being the worst aspect of the game, but also individual moments like Ballantyne storming towards our attacking 50 in the 3rd quarter only to slip in the middle of the ground and the Hawks sneaking a couple of quick ones toward the end of the 3rd. Geez I hope we get a chance to atone.

Our effort in that game looks even better given what the Hawks managed to do to Sydney last year.
