Yeah if comes down to $500 - that's pretty a decent drop I reckon. A $100 US drop was the most I thought it would, but were thinking more like $50.

Although, I guess we are often at the end of the line when it comes to good deals in Australia - what's the bet it only comes down to $600 :p

Pretty ugly IMHO.

I don't like the finish, where is the SHINE?!!!

Also the power and eject buttons are disgusting.

I reckon you'd almost mistake it for a laptop if you were walking down the street with it.

I do however like the new PS3 logo.

Even if we do get the 'Aussie tax' could always import from the US at the cushy price of $362.

I think it looks a lot better than the old one. Never really liked the look of the old one personally. Reminded me of an old Atari console or something along those lines - even though it looks nothing like them side by side, but yeah, just looked old to me for some reason.

BOOOOOOOOO!

THE BEAST FTW.

I love that mine is always bigger than yours...as usual.:D

As an added incentive to buy a PSP Go, Sony also announced that registering your system between October 1 and 10 will earn a free download of Gran Turismo PSP.

I guess they had to do something with the PS3 being 50 bucks US more "expensive" than the PSPGO :3

How do they justify the price disparity between here and the States (or UK and the States)? Sure there is the shipping cost, but that alone doesn't make up for the $150-200 difference.

Slim doesn't look to bad, the logo looks a bit out of place to me for some reason... Doesn't really fit IMO.
$500 is still way over the hills for what I'd be forking out for a gaming system, I'd only get the slim at that price if it was backwards compatible I reckon. There isn't anywhere near enough to attract me to spending 500 bucks on the PS3, the Blu ray doesn't interest me at all and there is a pretty distinct lack of exclusives.
*shrugs*

EBgames is a hoot :3

There are moments so significant that everyone remembers exactly what they were doing when it happened. One of those moments is upon us. Make sure you're doing something cool so that you don't have to tell your grandchildren a boring story when they ask about the great PlayStation 3 price drop of 2009.

The GT5 news was pretty good, but many people are interpreting the amount of cars with damage differently.

So, how is that GT5 release date going?
More information is promised at TGS (which seems to be the right thing to do).

From IGN:
"From the sound of it, there will be 1,000 vehicles in the game, 60 courses, full physics-based realtime deformation damage on all cars with 170 of them also incorporating interior damage, a completely new physics system (with possible rollovers), an online replay album, YouTube support for uploading replays, custom soundtracks, and the return of Gran Turismo TV. One other curious note is that the PlayStation Eye can be used as a full 3D head tracking system, which would mean that not only does it track movement left and right, but forward and back as well, resulting in the ability to move your in-car view left, right, forward and back. "

Non-existent so far.

The information from the Japanese GT site has been pulled, so it might not even be true.

IGN attempted to make sense of it, but they definitely took the most positive approach.

From the information, there could be 80 tracks or 20 tracks, there could be 1000+ cars with damage or 170 cars with damage, there could be 1000+ cars with a cockpit view or there could be only 170 cars with a cockpit view etc....

I'm stoked about custom soundtracks, though.

Bloody hell. That will take forever to play through:thumbsu:

Check out the new game trailer for "The Saboteur".

You are an Irishman in Paris and your goal is to kill nazis.
The game starts off in black and white and the more nazis you kill, the more the game returns to color. Pretty interesting concept.

HBK, you were right.

SSHD Devs big announcement was "DEAD Nation".

Looks exactly like Burn, Zombie Burn! and Zombie Apocalypse. Also looks exactly like Left 4 Dead, there's even a boomer in that trailer !! Why couldn't they make this a FPS instead of copying exactly what BZB and ZA look like.

There's a video trailer and information in the link below. Will include Co-Op (Offline and online).
