That is just rubbish. Typically it's only ethnic groups who are classed as gangs, while groups of young 'anglo' people are just out for a good time and some harmless fun. You like many others just tend to look at other ethnic groups differently because it's drummed into you by the scare mongers in the media.
Anglo gangs do exist, they just never seem to be called gangs.

You don't really have a clue Santos. I see it first hand in Springvale and Footscray, it's limited to people of a non anglo-saxon race.

No, you're wrong again. I happen to keep my eyes open as I live my life, and wouldn't you know it but I've run into many groups of drunken (and sober) 'anglo' youths or men, who seem to want to inflict damage upon other humans. They tend to be described as 'homeboy wannabes'. Does this description ring any bells?

Thats because footscray is dominated by asians, hence why anglo saxon gangs don't show their faces there.

Go to sunshine one day. Its absolutely filled with anglo-saxon gangs, most of them more eager to pick fights than the gangs in footscray.

Yes they exist, but aren't their attacks more random and less rivalry-based?

Rohan, maybe you can ask daddy to withdraw any fund raising money he gives at those posh dinners for his latest charity tax write off. You know the ones........daddy pays about $500 per ticket so that he feels like he's helping some poor blighter out, but in reality the money is to make sure none of them wind up at your doorstep.

That's right, in true BF nature we attack the poster and fail to address the issues. I'm neither racist or a supporter of Pauline Hanson, I've travelled the world, I'm educated and not small minded enough to take on different views.

But you go around to Footscray, Clayton, Springvale and co and answer my contention. I'm sure you will agree with me.

Well said Santos.

There are gangs of all ethnic backgrounds all over the place, many of us just choose to look over our "own", and frown more upon Asian, or European gangs.

There really shouldn't be gangs period, but we can't have everything.

I don't have to travel to those places to realise that you are spouting opinion NOT fact. Be prepared for people to have different opinions and back them up with educated views, which don't rely on xenophobic sensationalism.

Rohan, mate, if you actually started DECENT threads that didn't call for us to have a go at you, then the issues would be covered.

But to come out and say there are no "Anglo Saxon" gangs is plain stupid....just what did you expect people to say?

We have asian gangs here, Girrawheen for example, and they always seem to go to northbridge at nite. It's important not to stereotype here, as not all asians are gansters, all lebanese are rapists etc etc. Having said that, soemtimes it is hard not to depending on your own experiences, eg maybe a vietnam war vet who has been fighting viet kong might have this thing for vietnamese; and a person who has had his shop robbed by aboriginals before MIGHT be a bit biased.

So, the big group of Birmingham supporters I saw try to beat the ***** out of another group of Millwall supporters last season were not of anglo saxon stock? Excellent theory Rohan....unfortunately way off the mark. Gangs exist in every place, regardless of race colour or creed.

I've encountered some of the violence in England and IMO Soccer violence isn't very relevant in Australia and Melbourne.

In your vast travelling experiences, have you ever come across

blokes with shaved heads and large doc-martin boots ?

When you do - go up to them in your private school uniform and

tell them how much you enjoy boy band music.

Maybe not, but I'd figure they are gangs of anglo saxon youth!

Wasn't Neil Balmes son involved in some gang incident a while back?

You need to get out to a few suburban railway stations and shopping centres I think Ro...travel the world but miss what's in ya own back yard.

A couple of time each year we hear about groups of private school laddies going on rampages through the inner eastern suburbs attacking rival groups and causing all sorts fo damage. (Such as the recent case involving Neil Balme's boy).

Funny how they are never referred to as 'gangs'. Cause the same damage and create the same fear yet, due to their school's status and the fact that any conviction may harm their Melbourne Club potential, it is all brushed off as kiddies letting off some steam and they are slapped over the wrist.

If their eyes were slantier or their skin of an olive complexion, they had no jobs and their postcode not as worthy, a nasty prison term awaits and a segment on "A Current Affair" and a mention in Andrew Bolt's column.

Step son. The guy who used the sword and three youths in the group were Asian.

hahaha... asians??

those short skinny little fellas, with their souped up rice-burners...
geeky book readers with their hello kitty toys...

haha... afraid of asians?

u gotta be kidding me...

Dare I say it, in a way Rohan is correct. I may well be wrong but IMO one of the main reasons gangs form is through minorities clubbing together, especially when they feel alienated or discriminated against in wider society. And when I say minorities, this does haven't cultural or racial. It can be harder for youths to find acceptance outside their own familiar circles. But get any group of adolescent youths together, chuck in some some testosterone and youthful bravdo and you'll have a gang.

The Balme "incident" is pretty hard to group. A group of Private School boys acting tough with another group of Private Schoolboys in Canterbury, typical middle class Australia. From my experience there has always been fights between the different schools and IMO this is what this attack is.

It's not really an example of gang warfare, they don't really roam the streets, cause havoc and sell drugs like gangs do.

This happend in a Private School setting a few years ago. Basically a group of people went around bashing up students and stealing their laptops. They were Asian.
