With the clean-out occurring at the AFC in regards to Assistant's - who will be Craigy's right hand men??

IMO Gary McIntosh would make an EXCELLENT midfield coach. I hated him in his day due to his in and under abilities and his fantastic footy brain.

I think he would be a valuable asset to our onballers and he would only be looking after 8 - 10 players; not 26 as he was at Norwood.

Teach them accountability with a bit of 'the mongrel' as well.

Thoughts??

I am a Norwood fan but I can’t see him getting this role
Especially with Norwood last this year which cant do his coach credentials much good, also one of Norwoods biggest problems is lack of aggression or "mongrel"
Although it wouldn’t surprise me with the Craig - McIntosh Norwood link

No, his heart & soul has always been with the Norwood FC & i couldn't imagine him goiing to the AFC as an ass.

Would move heaven & earth to grab S Williams for a coaching role if i was N Craig.

My mail is that Macca has a number of non-football related problems which would mean his prescence would be less than desireable as a coach witht he Crows

Macca refused to lpay for us and has shown no passion for the AFC so would not want to see him down there at all. The less Norwood connection teh better in any case.

S Williams would be great I reckon. Always been impressed by his communication skills (other than his mobile phone throwing effort at Woodville ;) )

Would surprise me...always hated the AFL didn't he...refused to go when he was drafted in the old days ????
Would be hypocritical to embrace it now

You'd have to ask John "Flip flop" Reid about that one.

He certainly does, and it caused him to lose his focus completely at Norwood.

He has zero chance of being an assistant coach at Adelaide.

Great player but he is from the old school and I dont think he is up to speed on the modern Australian game.
If he couldnt get his message across at Norwood, a club where he is adored and he adored in return then I dont see him being very effective at a club he initially refused to have any part of.

I unfortunately was never blessed to watch a performance by Gary McIntosh... how does he compare to the uncomparable Andrew Jarman and Chris McDermott?

After the 1984 tour of Ireland Sheedy gave him $20,00.00 on a handshake that if he ever decided to leave Norwood/SA he would consider coming to Essendon.

That answer your question?
Macca (in his prime 84 - 92) would have walked straight in to any side that has ever played the game.

PS, I am not a norwood fan, but also think he could add the required grit to our centre, he is a bit thick though and wouldn't add much to the box on match days.

EDIT; He was Begged to captian the crows first team.

Why didn't he join the VFL... actually, why the HELL wasn't he in Adelaide's inaugural squad?
He LOVES norwood. In facts he eats, sleeps, breathes and bleeds Norwood. We wnated him but he never wanted to leave the redlegs. A very loyal individual

If McIntosh DID join the Crows, who would have been our first captain? McIntosh or McDermott?
McDermott, not because of talent, but because McDermott had been a captain for longer, and having Cornes as coach would have also helped that decision...

Macca was offered the job (and anything else he wanted) to play with us, they even delayed the captain announcement until they had given up on getting him.

I can remember this so vividly becaue i was a big Bone fan and was worried that he would miss out.

What jc67 said. But to be more precise, McIntosh = McDermott, not Jarman. In and under, incomparably hard at the ball, not the exquisite skills (no scrubber in that department, but like I said, more like McDermott with a goatee than Jarman with hair.
