It's amazing !!!

I grew up with league and Aussie rules in the Riverina. On Saturday we would watch the Aussie Rules GF at Macca's house and on Sunday we would all go over to patt'y joint for the RL.

I always defended AFL againts the anti- Rules boys who called our game gay.

I tried to tell them how hard as well as skillful a game aussie rules was.

But really, with everything the AFL has been doing to the game over the last 10 years, taking a lot of the contact out of it, and making free kicks so soft and now they are letting the media dictate a crucifiction for something that was "said" on a footy field.

I think it might be time for the rules committee to make it a requirement for every player to carry onto the field with him his very own hand bag !!!

Seriously is it just me ??? GAYFL seems like a pretty accurate description of footy these days !!

Starting to agree, although the Ess v Carl game on Sat was a good advertisment for the game. Plenty of goals, free flowing, big grabs and pretty good skills (Goal accuracy aside). Hands in the back rule tarnished it somewhat and that is the problem- The AFL constantly believing adding or refining rules will rectify whatever issue existed with the AFL in the first place.

Not really. Does the Riverina even have an RL Competition? They did a few years back, but a guy from Narrandera beat the shit out of an umpire, and the league was cancelled.

He's right the freekicks are soft, more and more pretty boys are playing the game not needing to get a hard ball get. Thank God local footy hasn't been affected to badly by these rules.

Chip kicking around and keeping possesion is really bad for the game, no contests is shocking and often the best games to watch are between the sides with the worst foot skills as they have no choice but to kick to contests. The draw last year ess vs carl was the best game i watched last year close tough hard footy with 2 big blokes taking pack marks at either end.
