For no better reason than because I have never been there before, I decided to venture down and go watch a game of footy at Kardinia Park.

This was for last weeks game Geelong vs Sydney, and I stood behind the goals and it was cold and wet but it was ****ing awesome, readily available full strength beer, an atmosphere of suburban footy where you are close to the action, it was a world away from the sterile environment of the Telstra dome of the night before.

A real sense of comraderie, everyone was everyone's mate, so long as you were going for the Cat's. It really reminded me of the way footy used to be enjoyed.

I'll be going back, and you guys are bloody lucky to have it.

Well done GFC:thumbsu:

Those are the main reasons state and amature leagues still get a crowd. Nothing beats standing at a ground with a drink in one hand and a hotdog in the other watching a game of footy in a relaxed environment.

Lol, you n your team are welcome to have it! Just kidding. Am just really really relieved not to have to sit out in the rain for once tonight. :)

Glad you enjoyed ya time down there. Geelong are really the last of the Vic teams to have some genuine home ground advantage, and i am not about to complain about that!

Coming from Perth, I'm only too aware of what supporting in the majority of a capacity crowd is about. Now that I've been to see my team play against the Catters at KP the shoe is on the other boot, but it's a great experience.

It is unique - for the time being - till the Southport Sharks enter the AFL.
I've yet to see "a shoe on the other boot!' - is that unique to the West?
Have to add that I enjoyed the comfort of TD last night after 2 arse-freezing games at KP. (By the way, on radio someone was picked up for referring to KP instead of SS - the fact is that it is still in our club song and SS is IN Kardinia Park!)

Great post dude, you're more than welcome to come down and enjoy as many games as you can.

It is a great place to watch the footy and it's even better when you live over the road from the ground too. Footy, beer and a short walk into town often makes for an unforgettable... then in turn forgettable weekend :)
