Had a very interesting read in the paper today about clubs wanting to poach our players due to our great training techniques and what not. Whilst it says our players could be targeted wouldn't it also show off our World Class professionalism in the sport and in effect lure players to our own nest?

Just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on this article.

The player that I was originally most worried about leaving was Nicoski but, upon reflection, it wouldn't surprise me to see a team target Cox, especially a team with a couple of young, promising ruckmen, in much the same way as GWS recruited Dean Brogan or Collingwood got Ben Hudson, to add some experience to a young ruck division.

I'd be sick if i saw coxy in anything other than royal and gold...

Oh hell I think we all would ! However I don't think that it is outside the realms of possibility that he might be offered really big money (more than the Eagles can pay) for a season or two in the twilight of his stellar career by a club that needs an experienced ruckman.

Great to see we have such a good reputation, I think most would expect Brown to go at seasons end... Not sure how i feel about that yet as i think i need to see more of him this year... Wouldnt be keen on Masto leaving, i wouldnt think any of the senior players mentioned would leave..
Who knows, the positve is that we are setting the benchmark (says the west anyway)..
:)

Really? Easily the player I'm least worried about losing

Of the players out of contract a couple could possibly retire and the rest would be no chance of leaving except brown. Is Lecca from Perth originally? Worried to see him out of contract

GWS can have Nicoski in a player/coach role with his super professionalism, all we ask for in return is Coniglio. You know, it's a like-for-like replacement.

Lecca is from Cervantes.

He wouldn't leave. Pretty sure the club would offer him money and years if thats what he wanted. He's never really broken down and not to mention ruck man can play for a while. This all being said I'm pretty certain the club will want to get Cox to 300 games. They might not say it but it would be something incredibly special for Dean, the West Coast Eagles and all the Fans that have adored him over the years.

Onya COXY.

EDIT: and he was AA last year.

Yeah, he's got it made here.

Naitanui is our #1, and Cox is our 'AA #2'. He has done a power of work and carried the #1 ruck mantle for a good 7-8 seasons. The emergence and versatility of Naitanui and the fact that Cox is a help rather a hindrance being plonked in the goalsquare are great things for the longevity of Cox's career. I hope for our sake and his he plays until the end of 2014. If all goes to plan he'll be equal with Jakovich at the end of 2013... :)
