Not sure why clubs bother with guys who have been playing footy for like 5 years when there are kids out there playing their entire lives and can only dream about it...

- you get the former outside the draft, dont have to bid against 17 other clubs for them

- the former has already been studied and tested for ability for years in junior leagues, and has been found wanting. The latter is at least an unknown

basically its a low cost gamble you don't lose a draft pick to make.

Isn't the kid 16 or something? Not saying he will make it, but I would have thought at no cost there would be plenty of time yet for him if his head is in it.

No doubt, but it's a free hit, which Brisbane would be loving right now. Sydney with Pyke are laughing after he helped with a flag as did Kennelly. Tuohy is a handy player at Carlton too.

Plus those who've talked about the international stuff...taking international rookies is one way to seek an advantage over other clubs as they can be taken from outside of the traditional draft/trading mechanisms. Would like to see us take more to be honest.
