There is a thread earlier asking opinion on who returns the engagement ring if it's called off.

It's got me thinking on serial marrying. This day and age a lot of people marry more than once. I know of some who are up to spouse number 3.

What I'd like to know is if you have a close relative or friend who's first wedding you attended with all that goes with it, gift, new outfit, shower, hens/bucks night etc, (weddings can be expensive even for the guest) who has divorced then re-married again and again - do you buy them a second or even third gift taking into account that their new intended could possibly be in the same boat.

Also, if you are a parent who footed the bill of your child's first wedding, would you put your hand in your pocket for the next one?

I know what you mean. If I had to take a shower for the first marriage 7 years ago, no way am I going to go through all that cleaning again just because they couldn't put in the hard yeards to make the first marriage work. :)

Been to quite a few weddings that have since ended in divorce. In my case such people have been wise enough not made such a big deal out of second weddings.

My sister is getting married for the third time in June. This wedding and her second one are just small ones with basically family and a few friends.

a book on relationships maybe ? or maybe some gift vouchers marriage councellors

honestly i can't beleive that people go past No.2

i can to a point understand 1 divorce but 2.. I think its a time to have a look at yourself and wonder weather marriage is for you

Just give them a picture of your original gift as a reminder that you have done your bit, and that it's just them who are impossible to live with.

Unless the spouse(s) died, I think if someone gets married for a third or more time they should deeply consider why they are getting married for a third time and if it is a good idea!

As for gifts I haven't been to many weddings (am only 19) so I cant really give any comment about gifts.
