Can't go a Series without Breaking down

Do we look elsewhere for a someone a bit more reliable......????

I reckon the Selectors would have to be contemnplating it... IMO

Gillespie.

The man is world class. However, they may have to look at some complicated system of rotating him in and out of the side to avoid injury somehow... He's an unlucky bastard.

Rotating him probaly isnt the answer as he is still going to get injurys. The dfference being he will play less games. Im sure that they have done 100s of hours of video analysis on him, so injury prevention is something that possibly cant be helped.

Perhaps he should retire from ODI.

I think the opposite maybe he should retire from test match cricket, now dont get me wrong im a HUGE Dizzy fan but he seems to b unable to complete the 5 days especially when there are back 2 back test like this time.

With the amount of fast bowlers injured his season (not just the Test match ones, a lot in the first class scene as well). The way Australia take care of their fast bowlers have been questioned, and some said the methods we use are even leading to some premature retirements (a.k.a Damien Fleming)

Beware, I ain't that one who said that, so don't flame me.

i dont think retiring from test or ODI is the answer - but like dizzy, i havent got a clue what is! he MUST BE tearing his hair out! :(

he started to get even more injuries after he had that broken leg in Sri Lanka IMHO!

You would have to be form the Ganguly school of thinking to believe that.

not even Ganguly would think that either!

The problem the Australian quicks have had over the past three years is finally realising itself in the plague of injuries they currently have.

The problem being Australia's success at test level over the last 3 or 4 years Australia has been batting once and ending tests in 3-4 days more often than any other team I can remember, with Steve Waugh's win at all cost attitude we were sending teams in again thus a bowler who had just bowled 40 overs in a the last couple of days was sent back out to do it all again, no rest time sitting in the pavillion watching us bat to let the body rest for a day or 2 and then go again but back at it again.

This is causing a spate of small injuries to magnify as they are being strained under match conditions more often and not being able to settle down.

Whilst Gillespie is an anomally and is injured often, Australia's success over the last couple of years can IMO be linked to our current fast bowler injury problems

The flaw in your argument is that our test bowlers are not statistically bowling more overs per season than those who went before them. The current day test bowler is actually bowling less overs every year than bowlers 30-40 years ago.

In the same token, the players 30-40 years ago don't play as many test matches and ODI matches as bowlers today.

Correct, but they actually played Sheffield Shield matches regularly.

True, but that would be mainly due to the tight international schedule for the Australian season with what's normally 6 test matches to be played and the VB series. The players still occasionally play one 4 day game and some one day games for their states.

And players 30-40 years ago don't have to endure the amount of touring the modern players have to.

Ah, I knew it was Steve Waugh's fault.
