Ok so I am in somewhat an awkward position. Now with the impending absence of Matt Priddis from my midfield, in addition to my already undesirable injury list I am left with SEVEN rookies starting on the ground.
My question is this: It's all well and good to bench a player if it looks like it will only be a 3 or so week injury, but when it gets to 4 of your original starting 22 being injured, costing a considerable amount of points each round, is it time to trade? (18 left)
At what point do you pull the pin? Injury list consists of: Jetta, Dew, Courntey Dempsey and now Priddis. So lets say replacing Priddis with my only other fit midfielder Craig Bird will cost me roughly 50 points a week. 150-200 points in total, is this of equal value to 1 trade? I dont think so, but when you combine it with 3 other positions in similar circumstance it is hard to ignore.
Who is in a similar position? Im of the opinion that it will be better to ride out the slow start (couldnt expect much more than 1900, 2000 and I would be wrapped), save the trades, meanwhile upgrading other players and then make a real run at it when the injured come back.
Im interested to hear others perspectives on these short term injury problems as I'm sure there are others who have the same concern...
