Yet another example of women thinking they can compete in the male version of a sport. It is ridiculous.

When will sportswomen get it through their heads that they cannot match men in sports?

Take golf for example.

Everyone said that strength wasnt the main factor, but still the top female golfer in the world failed to make the cut in the mens tour.

Tennis: no way could any of the top females match the men in this sport.

Surfing: See above.

when will we see Tiger woods competing in the LPGA? wont happen! ever!

so why do women think they can come into the male version of the sport?

Disagree, I think surfing is one sport that men and women can compete in an even playing field.

have you ever watched womens surfing and mens surfing??

there is no comparision. The men obviously dominate in every aspect of the sport.

Err, no. Surfing is one of the sports with the biggest difference between men and women. I've got mates who are as good as Layne Beachley.

She's a champion women surfer, but women are so far behind men in surfing it isn't funny. Ever seen these girls in an expression session? They're not even close to the guys.

The only thing in her favour is that competition surfing is scored on points. That means she can do a heap of re-entries et al and rack up some points. If it were free-surfing where no one was holding back, she'd get exposed quite quickly. A competition will just make the gap look smaller than it really is. I'm tipping she'll get knocked out within her first 3 heats.

Beachley ended up coming last in the end. But i guess she was able to 'challenge' herself in the meantime while someone else(male) missed their opportunity to compete.

When it come to sport, yes they are. I don't know why so many women have a problem with this? Just because they are inferior at sport, doesn't mean women are inferior to men on the whole. Some women should just relax and except than males (in general) have more strength and aptitude to sport than females.

I have no problem with women competing in men's events as long as they qualify. Like you say, i'm not overly keen on giving females wild cards when it is at the expense of male.

The female is likely best in the world and loaded whilst a wild card guy might be travelling around and living out of a car to stay on the tour. We all know that when it comes to the nitty gritty, women can't compete with men.

You're basically giving someone a go who is "bored and curious" in front of someone who is likely to be desperate and willing to chew his arm off to get a start.

should have heard the boo's in todays lecture when our university cricket rep was recruiting people to play in the interfaculty comp after he said *sorry girls, you can't apply for this one*

I saw what they showed on the news and although it was well below her best, she's still no match for the guys. On a good day at any popular Australian surfing break, you can pick a ton of male nobodies that are better than Layne. In almost every sport there is a difference between male and female competitors, but I believe surfing is a sport where the gap is substantially large.

The fact that they both "wiped out", guess he wiped out a bit better than her & that put him ahead of her, but his performance was bad as well, the guy that Layne took the place of, would have beaten Irons as well.

OH by the way, ever surfed Bunsen, I know you will say you have & you are a superstar, but I doubt it, there is not a lot of difference between male & female surfers, it depends on the waves, brute strength has nothing to do with it.
