Hey guys, not too sure where this should go. So if it's in the wrong place, please feel free to delete/move.
My best mate is in a unique (in my opinion? this may be popular elsewhere, I couldn't find an equivalent) fantasy comp with work. The premise of the comp is that it is based entirely around designing a team that scores points only when players kick goals or behinds. There's the usual draft after round 1. The catch is, the team you design can only feature players played in their named position (they use the AFL website for this). So for example; if Joe Daniher is only ever named at CHF, then that is the only position you can name him in your team (assuming you drafted him). You also can't have more than one player in a named position. So once again, if you have Joe Daniher in your team as well as Lance Franklin, you wouldn't be able to play both in your team at the same time, until one is named in a different position. If any of that makes sense? So one of the keys is getting players that score goals from positions like HB, BP etc.
The reason I'm going through all this, is one, a bit of advice for his future team would be appreciated, but also I think it's a cool exercise to go through. So I developed a spreadsheet that had every player in the position that they were named in last year, as well as their goal averages.
As you can see from the Document, players like Jake Melksham, Mark Blicavs and Orazio Fantasia were great choices because of the position they were named in and the number of goals they would score.
If you were to create a team for next year, how you do it? Assuming players will kick goals from obscure positions etc.
Just a cool little off-season idea. Thanks guys
