To be goal of the year a player I think must have at least had the intent to kick the goal. Gill's intention looked like he was trying to center it and it ended up bouncing through.

Anyone who follows North knows exactly what he intended to do there.![]()
Oh, I've got NO doubt he was going for goal and he meant to kick it......its just that he shanked the kick but it eventually bounced through for a goal. He intended to kick the goal, he just didn't intend to kick it in that manner. To be goal of the year a player I think must have at least had the intent to kick the goal. Gill's intention looked like he was trying to center it and it ended up bouncing through.

Or wrong'un...i agree.. just like the commentators, i knew it was going in for some strange reason before it happened..
but then the commentator called it a leg break.. when quite clearly it would have been a big turning off spinner.. my one criticism
he makes it sing like an angel. He can make the ball talk
He can make the ball talk
...he can do that too.
so your saying that a goal that got the luckiest bounce, no skill involved is goal of the year!
After Lloyd's "goal of the year" last year it's possible that a set shot from 15m out could be a contender.
I reckon GOTY is between Rioli's and Harvey's. I got excited when Gill kicked that one yesterday but it won't even be a finalist.

Nick Gill hands down.
That was amazing.
