Does anyone know how many behinds Troy Wilson scored this season?

I'm trying to work out if when given the opportunity, he was as inaccurate as everyone thinks he was.

We also have to take into account that most of Fidos and Merendas goals are on the run or from difficult angles, whereas Wilson usually had set shots in front of goal
Keep Cummings i say!!!!

Thanks d4e!

Well, to be honest, with just over 60% accuracy, I'm actually pretty happy. :D

Imagine if he was given half a chance by the coach, we had the players actually delivering to him and he was still converting at 60%.....

Yeah you have to remember that Fido and Merenda are goal sneaks so a lot of opportunities come quickly so they are less accurate but pretty much all shots from Wilson and Cummings are set shots..Wilson just isnt kicking enough goals. If he was kicking like Cummings he could have 60 goals....

With Wilson what do others feel about him playing in the backline, he played at full back for the WA state team and for West Perth and did ok.
Would he be a chance in the backline?

Hang on a minute.

If he was kicking like Cummings he would have had 16 goals on last year's form.

Many of his shots (goals or otherwise) that I remember were not set shots in front of goal. Because of the poor delivery from the midfield, they were wide or, more often, 50+ metres out from goal ie he had to lead a long way up the field to get the ball. On the other hand, there were a few out on the full too.

Personally I doubt whether he'd be as useful in the back line, though I understand why John Dimmer would often play him there. I think he's either FF or out, except for short spells when we want him to take someone out.

D4Es stats don't take into account shots that went OOF either. ;) That's what I found most frustrating about Troy. When he missed, boy did he miss! :(

I got some other stats that may give an indication on how he uses the ball:

Wilson had 117 kicks and 46 clangers
Fido had 111 kicks and 37 clangers
Merenda had 170 kicks and 45 clangers
Cummings had 26 kicks, couldn't find his clangers

Remember, clangers are blatant errors. Something like passing to an opposition player who takes an uncontested mark, or out on the full. So if someone has a clanger, they really screwed up.

Just out of interest, Taylor had over 70 clangers and was our leading clanger guy.

Oh, clanger schlanger........ ;)

Re: Taylor - apart from being our leading clanger guy, I was interested to read that he was also our leader in free's against(36) and equal for 50's (3).

On putting Wilson in the backline, I'm with VoR on that one. But in saying that, it could be an interesting experiment to see how he went - especially on some of the softer forwards.
