Does anyone know where the stats are for Goals Conceded on the internet? I'd like to know Maxies stats and Carrols etc.. Cheers
 
Could only find the published stats from around round 12 of this year:

Only Josh Gibson (the eventual winner on total goals) came close to Nathan Carrol's average of 3.71 goals conceded per game (he played just 2 more games after that)
 
I can tell you right now that Max has a lot less conceeded goals than Carroll.

Are the above stats goals conceded to direct opponents or are they something else?

What you may also look at is the number of kicks inside Melbourne's 50 this year.
For example , if Aaron Fiora was StKilda's full back against Essendon at the G this year, he probably would have conceded less goals than Mal Michael.

How would Dempster go as a full back against the opposition's best forward each week? I suspect not so good, but that does not mean he is not good for our team.
I'm not a huge Carroll fan or anything but I can recognise he has been working under
pressure and is probably a reasonably good defender who has been put in a role above his ability. I am more worried about his personality and behavior off field ( but hey if he continues hitting only Melbourne players thats probably OK ). Maybe we can get a bulk discount at the rehab centre, or just make sure it is Kosi buying the drinks.
 
Good point - we need carroll to calm down, stop looking like a fool and act like a professional if he's going to play for us. we don't want to be known as the "reject party boy club" again - not that i'm worried that we would be but we want to have a good, solid reputation and Carroll IF he is interested in coming to us MUST be made aware of that.

With player rotations it's too hard to work out who is on who. OK for the full-back who tends to play on the same FF, but the stat doesn't tend to work for the other defenders.

That would be a more than 'isn't bad', but rather a phenomenal stat (1.125 per game), considering he typically plays on the best forward - he has, amongst others, played both Franklin and Fevola twice this year !

Lol, yeah thats what I meant, bit hard to convey over the net, but you know when you hear something really awesome, and just say 'not bad, not bad at all...'.

But yeah, clearly the best FB in the league. :)

they can tally up stats on game time and possessions of one player vs another, 1%er's etc.. they can find and tally goals conceded..

I mean maybe its the only chance that a FB can be recognised alongside the Coleman Medalist?

I even heard Hawthorn supporters talking about how good he was in that nightmare Prelim!!.

Max would have to be about the best out and out stopper in the game. He was brilliant this year, completely shutting down the likes of Fevola and Franklin. Thought he was very unlucky to miss out on the final AA team given the outstanding year he had.

I'm stoked he has now decided to play on for another year but he will leave an awfully big hole to fill when he goes.

Yes - as Squizzy said in another thread - you are also redeeming my faith in the human race which was waning - I was seriously thinking the world was stuffed with my observations of the school and uni students out there.

Or should I say it with the words of a modern hero ? At what point did I feel like I have made it in society ? Maybe I've never felt that I have...

I gotta write an essay about it tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. As it pretty much counts for 33% of my entire schooling life doing English. :thumbsu:
