or moving forward

worst, most over used business buzz phrase of our time.

Annoys me so much. Invented by business to stop having to be answerable to issues of the past where they screwed up.

Shareholder "what about when you leaked that 50 tonne of Benzene in the local river"

CEO "well going forward we've committed to the EPA blah blah blah"

Now absolutely everybody is using it.

One of Unicorp's corporate objectives is to develop strategic relationships with key customers and be recognized for our ability to deliver services of superior value.

In respect of this, Unicorp wants to avoid a silo mentality, and in doing so will take the temperature of the organisation well before the rubber hits the road. Forward projections would have the company thinking outside the square.

This competitive advantage will be achieved through continued focus on our core competencies, management attention to the development of operations and process management excellence in all parts of our business, the identification and application of best processes, and continued attention to direct and indirect cost management. The focus on core competencies will promote the concentration of knowledge in select areas consistent with the tenets of Unicorp's strategic plan, Unicorp 2000. Management's attention to operations and process management excellence in all business areas will be achieved through the continued expansion of our management and technical staff, as well as through consistent application of corporate quality programs such as benchmarking and continuous improvement, leading to the establishment of Unicorp's superior business processes in each core competency. Finally, continued attention to direct and indirect cost management will enable Unicorp to offer customers a superior, value-added package of high-quality service at a competitive price.

As we look to the 21st century, Unicorp's goals will be to penetrate new markets, attract external equity financing and achieve increased business volume. Our most critical challenges will involve moving faster, communicating better and coordinating activities more closely companywide. We must concentrate on growth within our existing clients and seek to improve upon the ways in which we solicit new business. We must question old ways of marketing while consistently fine-tuning our selling processes. Our future success will depend largely upon the quality of our service and our ability to leverage additional work from existing contacts.

A critical initiative beginning in 2000 will involve organizing our internal knowledge, best practices and innovations into an effective knowledge management system. Building upon our proven methodology for continuous quality improvement, Unicorp will combine resources to develop a corporate learning system. The system will assist our professionals in staying abreast of current company goals, objectives and strategies and will enable Unicorp as a whole to provide a higher level of customer service through the sharing of validated knowledge management processes.

^^
That actually makes sense, I think.

But they could have just said something like:

"Unicorp:
we want a good reputation with customers (and potential customers)

useless paragraph full of cliches.

we are looking at improving by managing costs, making sure our processes are efficient, focusing on what we're good at, and providing a quality service to customers.

21st century goals: we want to sell to new markets, increase our sales, and attract more outside investors. Blah-blah improve processes, getting more out of existing staff etc.

In 2000 we will continue to improve quality by developing a "corporate learning system" (uhh...), which will in some way help our staff to do what I just told you that they do. Blah blah repeat what I just said 2 paragraphs earlier about customer service. Company goals etc."

Amen.

I'm sick of hearing things like "best practice going forward" etc., blah blah blah.

President Eddie perfected it and continues to be one of the biggest abusers of corporate speak, but it seems every company/football club/organisation uses it.

Read 1984, it's like the corporates use that book as a template for how their public relations section operates with the rubbish that spews from their mouths.

You know what? The site I grabbed that verbose drivel off actually were offering a prize to the first person who could email them an accurate 150 word summary.

I'd give you the link, but I have no idea where it is.

Yes, i have noticed this too lately & it is used heavily by my employers. Hate it. I had a meeting with a bird a while back & she must have used it 10 times in a 5 minute conversation.
Oh, & i also loath the word "absolutely".

Gives me the shits.
Usually trotted out by spankers who can't or won't face up to the past or their previous mistakes.

'Time to move forward' was one that propelled me to almost glass some f***wit from my old football club once, when in his beastly careless nature about throwing away our colours, emblem and jumper for some new identity to appease a few newbie creampuffs, he used trot this line out to answer dissenters who got stuck into them about doing nothing to get our proper identity back.

incorrect grammar.

why is not the correct grammar used, short term future, medium term future, long term future, or just future.

Do not forget Mcguire was involved in such brilliant bidness strategies like sportsview and tipstar. Nothing but loss making entities, where he used his name and network to seek personal advantage.

Hansie Cronje capitalism.
