Really enjoyed the other evening standing around the fence at Freo oval watching the team and listening to the crowd. Had a couple of seasoned supporters bagging every mistake any Docker made. Especially comments like;
"Don't handball it."
"Just kick the bloody thing"
and, of course
"Don't chip it around, just kick it up the guts."
Looking up, "the guts" was jam packed full of players who were flooding back, and I could see how quickly the ball was likely to find its way flying back into the Dockers forward line, which now had very few defenders left in it.
Our forward line is an invitation to get the ball in quickly, and I think we have improved on that so far in the pre-season build up, and I am hoping it is the biggest change to our playing style for the year. Especially if it can be driven by the big man's tap work.
Any thoughts?
