don't get too hyped.....

already a sequel to goldeneye

goldeneye rogue agent on the gamecube

however I guess enough time has passed that nostalgia will help sell the game

Eurocom has an alright track record

The world was not enough was decent on N64

and dead space extraction was pretty good albeit short

It's not exactly a remake. It's most definitely a re-imagining, I mean Daniel Craig is the lead this time around...and there was A LOT in the demo not in the original Goldeneye.

Some hesitations on my part. I would HATE for this game to be ruined by this re-imagining as Goldeneye is my favourite Multiplayer game of all time and in my top 5 titles as well. Activision producing (worrying) and Eurocom developing this title, the company has been around a long time for some VERY average titles all up, maybe 1-3 good one's over a 21 year period, they're a porting company for the most part too which is another worrying sign.

Bringing back Jaws and Oddjob will bring back the great arguments again and offer up more hilarity when you can't shoot Jaws despite him taking up the whole screen and raging your head off when you miss Oddjob as your default aim is 30 metres above his head.

I just REALLY hope they bring back the old MP maps and at least keep the MP much the same, customisation included.

Here's the trailer:

The graphics look pretty average like most Wii games but the gameplay snippets looked fairly solid.

I reeeeeally hope it's good.

news of a "new" goldeneye and the first thing you do is have a bitch about the graphics?

one thing, when this game is released it will be judged incredibly harshly. anything less than a total recreation of the original experience will probably lead to poor reviews

Since when am I bitching? I'm stating what I thought of the graphics and I think they're slightly below Wii standard. No need to be a knob about it. If you want to hear what I first thought of the game when it was announced, go to the E3 thread, flog.

Those who have checked it out in the flesh have actually stated that it's very sharp, got great textures with some superb animations. I agree that trailer didn't really show anything special, but I reckon it will look fairly good (and some of the screenshots coming out look a lot better).

Sounds bloody good. Now I just have to hope they don't stuff up the balancing issues like they did with Quantum of Solace.

lols makes the original goldeneye look like a C64 game so who cares about the graphics.

This is the biggest news ever. Christ the wii is lame but i might have to get one now.

Quite happy to hold my hand up and say i was one of many staying up until daylight playing multiplayer with 3 other mates on this game. Don't think any other game has had that sort of hold on me. :D

Wish it would come to the Xbox on Marketplace or something. But i reckon omit is right, it's going to cop some flak at some point for anything that's too different to how it was on the N64.

Video looks alright though, personally like the idea of touching it up without going overboard graphically to still give it the 'old' feel.

But would love to play this game again no doubt. Was pure awesome. :thumbsu:

Finally watched the video. Looked pretty impressive.

The Daniel Craig thing kinda took a big dump on my childhood though.

Yeah, how the hell can they justify having Daniel Craig, the only blond Bond, as the model for a movie he wasn't even in!
I think this game is going to fall flat, purely because it's a remake of one of the most popular games ever.

There seems to be something blocking this game from being multiplatform. Not really sure where it is at, but there's a possibility that we'll see it eventually for PSN and XBL due to it being an Activision title.

Hold out hope.
Oh man as long as multiplayer has proximity mines then this will be the greatest game ever
:thumbsu::thumbsu: They need the same maps back though to help exploit them.:D

God damn I loved Proximities. Proxies only was such a tense game, walking around every corner with your sights up wondering if you're going to set one off.:D

According to previews they will come up with a reason to justify it. Definitely agree it's a strange move, but getting Pierce back would've perhaps been a bit stranger. It's not a "remake" but a "re-imagining" so they get away with it slightly.

I wonder if the owners of the Bond rights wouldn't have been a bit thingy about the game using a "previous" Bond and watering down the current marketing value of Daniel Craig.

(particularly as they might be trying to sell the film rights any day now, the way MGM is going.)

Its a Wii game.

Terribly disappointed its on the Wii which is hardly know for its tight controls, quality third party games and killer graphics.

This is going to be th equivalent to the new Transformers movie's and thats not a good thing.

Considering the massive dead zone of the original's aiming, I think that the Wii (or a PS3/move) version will recreate it most faithfully.

Metroid Prime 3 controls >>>> Regular FPS controls.

If Goldeneye has them, I'll pre-order.

Might have to turn it on again. Been over a year since the last time I used it. :)

Bunch of new details, some that I really don't know if this is going in the right direction or not with. One of the best maps is gone, that being Complex (because "it's not part of the film"...last time I checked Daniel Craig wasn't EITHER!). Also perks and unlocks are going to be in online, this could be the biggest mistake.

They need to stop making it CoD and leave it more Goldeneye.

  • Judi Dench will be appearing as M.
  • Tanner from more recent Bond movies will also appear.
  • More fleshed-out mission briefings.
  • Bond now has regenerative health.
  • Approach situations with guns blazing, or try stealth.
  • New cinematic moments (helicopter sent in while you're at the damn).
  • Longer, more involved missions.
  • Dam mission sees 006 at your side for a large portion.
  • All classic multiplayer modes returning.
  • Unreachable island from the dam level returns.
  • Complex is not returning, as it's not part of the film.
  • Statue Park is a level in multiplayer.
  • No Bond death music in split-screen, due to it getting annoying.
  • Bond death music remains for single player and onlline multiplayer.
  • Improved character animations.
  • Daniel Craig's stunt-double from the films, Ben Cooke, was used for motion capture.
  • David Arnold handling composing duties.
  • Costume designer Lindsay Pugh and concept artist Robert Cowper are involved with art direction.
  • Stealth allows for context-sensitive neck snaps.
  • Guards ramble through inane chatter.
  • Different routes open up through stealth play.
  • "Because this is Daniel Craig's Bond. We have what Daniel Craig's Bond means within the gameplay. That's all the agility: he can roll over, jump down from heights, all of that strength. We've also got his physicality, which we're using the Wii motion control for. You can punch through glass, you can fall through glass, you interact with objects with a melee gesture."
  • Improved enemy AI.
  • Deactivate alarms through your PDA.
  • "Like the one at the edge of this tunnel, we've got a main door. You go through the main door, you will likely take on a firefight on the other side because you've alerted on AI. Whereas, there's a more covert route around through a manhole tunnel and that allows you to enter the next area covertly. Adding that replay ability to the game and just providing lots of choice, you can go back and try different things."
  • Online has XP, perks and an unlocks system.
  • Nine different modes for online.
  • Menu has quick options for "inversion" and "skin."
  • 'Skin' refers to the character you're playing as.
  • Cannot pick two of the same character.
