The idiot who shot 2 arrows into his dog, has been sentenced to 4 months jail, I would have preferred a longer sentence, but at least he is being jailed for his crime.

It's about time cruel mongrels got jail time, instead of the usual slap on the wrist, might make some other idiots think twice, before torturing an animal.

And yet you bothered to reply.

Peter Turner, from Quinns Rock, was also banned from owning pets for 10 years, don't know how that can be enforced.

Apart from firing the 2 arrows into the dog, he hit it over the head with an iron bar & stuck a stick in it's side.

Just hope an "animal lover" inmate, makes his 4 months a living hell. :D

Let's just hope he gets the crap beaten out of him in jail.

Had to laugh at his lawyer, said they were going to appeal the sentence, as his client was being used as an example, because he is the first person being tried under the new law.

AW poor baby, he is the innocent victim of a new law.

Its very difficult, you have to prove that he actually owns the dog, then you have to get the police to be bothered to turn up. Usually the best bet is the RSPCA, but they don't have a great deal of resources to be keeping an eye on guys like this.

Maybe he shouldn't have shot his ****ing dog with arrows then, that's a novel way of not breaking the law.

I would have liked to see him get longer too, but I guess at least he is getting a jail sentence......& I hope he gets the crap beaten out of him in jail......****ing scum he is!

Under the new West Australian "Animal Cruelty Law", it carries a maximum penalty of $50,000 fine and/or 5 years jail, so it seems he got off way to lightly & he is appealing, I think the R.S.P.C.A. should appeal the light sentence.

I value the life of a dog more than a lot of the people on this planet.

How about you look after the people & I will look after the dogs.

What a disgrace that people are actually showing concern, for a poor animal that was tortured by a psycho & as a result lost it's life.

It is a sad state of affairs though when you get more of a sentence for abusing an animal than another human.

Ripper

If this guy had have done the same thing to a human, he would have got years in jail, no way they would get less than 4 months.

I didn't reaize the dog died until after i posted. I just get sick of people assaulting people unprovoked and getting $50.00 fines.

Fair enough, but this guy didn't just assault the dog, he shot arrows into it's head & hindquarters, stuck a stick in it's side & hit it over the head with an iron bar, do you honestly think if someone did the same thing to a person, they would only get a $50 fine, they would be looking at major jail time.

An aside, his defacto has 6 kids & welfare are investigating taking the children off them & evicting them from their residence.

Its a cruel world out there, isn't it? You should have a read on some of the animal cuisine in different parts of the world, makes this dog case look tame. Have a read on how children get treated in 3rd world countries. Have a read on the actions of "freedom fighters" and guerillas in Africa. Or maybe the torture methods used by Saddam Hussein and other dictators.

Feels great living in a country where the leading story on a current affairs show is a comparison on which shampoo is better value :o

That's nasty.

I hope that the guy never gets released from prison.

So, we are just supposed to accept this kind of thing, well sorry I won't, we aren't living in a third world country & I expect Australians who have advantages, to behave better.

So, what are you doing about the problems in the third world countries, I imagine nothing, I doubt you are trying to change anything, just happy living in your own little world, only worrying about yourself.

What are you doing about the problems in third world countries Ms Canine Crusader? Or should that be Cornelia?

Not at all. I was merely putting this into perspective on a real world scale. Most people wouldn't have bothered starting up a thread on something like this, but then again, most people don't value an animals life above a humans.

Indeed. If those things don't happen in Australia, why concern ourselves? Right?

Thanks for opening my eyes. I'm off to register with Greenpeace so I can help them save trees and block traffic with "hire a crowd" protests. What a bang up job they are doing.

The response I expected from you, all you do is bag anyone who tries to make a difference in the world, from the comfort of your lounge room.

Most people wouldn't have bothered starting a thread on "Songs that define you", "Song title replies", "Your quirks", "Alcohol flavoured tim tams", "Which Disney character are you", wow these are all earth shattering topics, aren't they.

just cos u dont care. if mantis is trying to help something as apparently unworthy as a DOG, then why do u feel the need to try and condemn her?

and bcos u think there are more pressing issues to consider (ones that u arent doing anything about yourself btw), that this doesnt matter?

:o

Evade, it is really amazing, I got bagged a couple of weels ago, because I said I helped out an injured young woman, seems I should just not give a stuff about anyone but myself, go figure.
