Vodafone plaster themselves over the Gabba... but during a game at least you can't actually use your phone much, or your Vodafone 3G at all. I usually have to borrow my brother's Optus phone.

they're cheap though.

i'm not going to bag people for using vodafone (certainly not the boss ;)), but i don't get why people don't pay a LITTLE bit more, and use telstra or optus.

i personally use telstra, and i pay around $10 per month more. but my phone works whenever and wherever i want.

Voda have issues with capacity, particularly in their transmission network from their radio base stations towards their core network. It's just not geared up to provide decent internet access bandwidths. 3Mobile and Droptus aren't much better.

Telstra is better as they have a better transmission network, but you pay for the privilege of using it.

Vodafone bought out 3 Australia beginning of the year, so expect coverage improvement in urban areas when they combine the networks. If you're unable to get a signal on the Vodafone or 3 networks, or any network really, your best bet (short of changing providers) is to ring up and complain, should they garner enough complaints/should you make enough of a racket (considering it's the Gabba it matters) then they should build another bay station to transmit more signals. The main problem you're facing is that with the modern 3G networks, the more people using it, the coverage area shrinks, requiring another bay station.

You might also want to look at your phone, as some are less powerful than others yours might have trouble receiving a signal.
