Just had a look at the name of players which have nominated for the National Draft, and no Gourdis?

has he thrown in the towel? you would think a young bloke like him would be giving himself every opportunity possible to get picked up by another club

can u do that not nominate for the draft but for the rookie draft

can you just nominate for the rookie draft though? that seems a bit odd, as a club which finished bottom could lure a top rated youngster into nominating just for the rookie draft - and claim him.

do you have to at least nominate for one of the ND or PSD?

Not sure about that AT but he's got until then to nominate for the PSD anyway so he can still nominate for one of the two.

Maybe he really didnt think he had a shot of being on a main list so decided to leave it until the later date to declare for it.

i hope so - it would be sad to see a guy like him give up. If the reports of him having depression are true - it would be very sad indeed

By us? I hope by us. I hope Gourdis delisting was just so Polak could stay, and then we elevate the christ out of him immediately. I know there's no official demoting rule, but I'm sure there's an unwritten courtesy rule amongst clubs that If they declare they're going to re-rookie someone and the player wants to stay, then other clubs wouldn't touch them in the first round or two. Like having a player on your list who you know doesn't want to be there, and you've ****ed up everyone's plans.
 
I don't know the legalities of nominating and I'll take as gossip the views of those wiser here, but I heard weeks ago that Gourdis was a rookie job.

Certainly won't let the kid drift away, would they?

didn't Gourdis train with the Blues though for a couple of weeks?:confused:
 
That's what a few of their supporters were claiming, but I think he's training with us now. Can anyone confirm?

Naa just rumours from the blue scum. He got approval from the AFL to train with us I'm pretty sure, not Carlton.

well, i'll be very happy if Gourdy ends up on our rookie list - i must admit that if the man reason we delisted him was because of his mental health - i'm annoyed.

It's good enough for the club to stand by senior blokes like Polak and Pettifer , when they have fallen into hard times - but then we dump a teenage kid cos he is suffering from depression... just didn't sit well for me.

hopefully that was the plan all along :thumbsu:

I was of the view that nominating for the draft lasts for a couple of years and that if you nominated last year you would not need to this year.

There is something like that but I think if you are drafted then you have to re-register. It's just if you arent there is a time frame to remain on the nomination list.
 
Gourdis was given permission to train with Richmond, unsure whether he took up the option. I also recall it being mentioned in another thread that DeLuca had been told not to return to training from Monday.
 
One of my mates who plays for Ainsley Football Club in Canberra (the club Hird/Buckley played for) said they've just recruited two young blokes who played for Coburg all last year. Both of them quiet tall and one was from WA....... Gourdis maybe???

And I wonder who the other bloke is. I'll have to try find out which two players they are.

He also mentioned they got Tiv a job down here doing something with Building and was promised $80,000 for the year plus they set him up with a place?, But he got a better offer from a club in Melbourne, ne ideas where Tiv is going to end up

Im sure if that was possible CARLTANK would have already done it by now
 
Maybe we promised to put him on the rookie list?

If he is raw, but with potential, it sounds like something we might do. I mean, maybe we would have preferred to rookie-list him last year, and only picked him up in the PSD because we thought he'd be snapped up otherwise...?
