With these games being released within 2-3 months of each other (GoW and Resistance in early Nov) it's fair to say they'll probably be going up against each other and I'd imagine they'll all do pretty damn well.

For me Resistance 2 will be the better of the three, but the more I see of GoW 2, the more I look forward to playing it. I found the first one visually stunning but got bored with it very quickly, though the 2nd installment looks to be miles ahead and that's just based on short clips I've seen.

I'm a huge fan of the split screen co-op and recently heard that KZ2 will also have this feature, which puts it in the same bracket as the other two as far as I'm concerned. Gunning down enemies is okay on your own but nothing beats the team work of co-op imo, and that's the main reason I can't wait to try these three titles.

Does anyone know much about the online capabilities/features of these games? Which one will be the superior game in that aspect? I know Resistance 2 has a huge online mode, but know very little about the other two games when it comes to online play.

I'm not a huge gaming fan by any stretch of the imagination but damn it'll be hard to put the controller down during any of these titles.

Resistance 2 will shit over any other game in the online department, 60 player games, and 8 player online co-op, with 60 map/mode combinations as well this can't go wrong online.

Is it even a contest?

I bought a 360 to play gears. Anyone who doesn't have one would be well served to do the same to play gears 2.

Killzone2 hasn't had good pre-release reviews. Resistance was enjoyable without being groundbreaking, i guess 2 will be much the same slightly improved

Yeah, gears by miles

Killzone II.

Even though the orginal Killzone wasnt the best game ever, I had so much fun with its offline multiplayer. Expecting big things from this one. Online and off.

Gears for the campaign, Resistance 2 for multiplayer (including co-op) and KZ2 for graphical prowess

Can't pick just one. Luckily I'm a legendary bloke who owns a PS3 and 360, so I can just play all of them.

And who the **** has the connection to host a 60 player game?

Imagine playing on an American host. The lag would be mind-boggling  .

Resistance 1 had 40 player games, which is not far off 60 and I experienced NO lag, even in American servers.
I admit to not owning a 360, but GoW2 looks very good, as does R2. 60 player online, 8 player classed co-op, heaps of maps, brilliant weapons and heaps of game modes does it for me.
Apart from the graphics department, Killzone 2 will be nowhere near these 2 games.

GoW2 = R2 >>>>>>>>>>>>K2

pretty much think you're spot on there.

also resistance 2's campaign will be amazing for sure

killzone 2 is definitely the "unknown" of them all....i'm not expecting anything spectacular but i still have high hopes for it....also it just looks so damn amazing graphically

must add i am so tempted to buy a 360 just for gears 2

9.5+ game for sure

R:FOM had games with 40 people with little to no lag, and Insomniac have already stated that 60 players will work well and with relatively no lag.

Time will tell I guess.

I've played a heck of a lot of online gaming though, I don't know what they are using to stop the lag but seriously on PC and Xbox (Where my online experiences lie) I've never even contemplated a 60 player game (Unless you were LANing BF: 1942 which had 32 players IIRC) because I'd lag out as soon as I started the game.

Yet 40 players in Resistance:FOM works without one bit of lag, they aren't stupid down at Insomniac, they wouldn't be introducing 60 players if it couldn't work, they have explained how it will work though.
