Most influential player on the ground. His work in the midfield was fantastic.

Meh to GT

It's more about what this does to Milne's confidence, so to Milne, cop that...you can do it

Qualifying final or not it was a massive game. Be interesting to hear what Grant has to say in Footy Classified because he has a pretty hard time admitting he's wrong.

GT will demand that he back it up in the prelim, and that will indeed be the challenge to Milney. He silenced a few critic by putting in that effort we as fans knew he could when we needed him to, it doesn't end there though and likely won't even if he had a premiership medallion around his neck.

It's why we love him though, tide turns and he bobs up for 3 to arrest it and bring it back to a contested situation.

Milne needs to back it up in two weeks time. It was great to see him play his first great finals game.

Milne has even played a few good interstate matches, remember when he could never get a kick when the saints traveled ? He is clearly heading in the right direction. Seems evergreen that he keeps bobbing up with goals when most small forward pocket types would be well on the way to retirement.

Showed last night why Lyon is a better coach than Thomas, he got Milney up the ground in the midfield early to give him a taste of it and throw his opponent off balance and then released him up forward to wreak havoc. He does the same with Schneider.

Just playing Milne and Schneider as permanent small forwards makes them too predictable, if you can switch them between midfield and the forward line it keeps the opposition guessing.

Thomas would just leave Milney to get suffocated in the forward line and then bitch about his lack of impact afterwards. Lyon works out how to get the best out of our players and reaps the reward. One of the best things we ever did was hire him as our coach.

As I've said before, Milne carried us in Roo's absence this year. BJ, Lenny and others were great but he was our heartbeat in that period. His drive to perform at the big moments this year, and to get that premiership medallion, is awesome.

Stand by for two more stellar performances. I'm even coming around to plonking 20 on him for the Norm Smith should we make it that far.

Good post, Ross has been playing Milne up the ground for a couple of weeks to prepare him for playing on Hunt. He is the man with a plan, looking forward to going 'oh, so that's what he was thinking there' a few more times this finals series.

I love that right pic - to experience both the gutted look on the faces of the two Geelong supporters as well the Saints jubilation, especially from the Kosi look-alike, from just a few meters away show why all AFL footballers must be amongst the luckiest humans on earth.

Interesting to compare Milney's record with that of Steve Johnston who doesn't cop any flack for what have been very ordinary performances in big games. Seems like one good game albeit in the GF & Norm Smith Medal makes him immune to criticism. Wasn't the Norm Smith in the cakewalk against the Power...............everyone starred that day!

Well to be honest, Milne could do nothing next week then kick 5 and fluke a Norm Smith too. Which would probably erase everything he's done in every other final and he'd be remembered as a Grand Final winning gun.

Here's hoping!

He was sensational.

That trap in the centre square, side step and then hitting Schneider running towards goal was fantastic!

He was def. one of our best players on Friday night - just fantastic.
