Sorry to get off topic seeming that football is getting closer and closer but i just wanted to know what some of the great music concerts that you guys have been too and who you would recommend to go see?

I only ask because last night i went to the Iron Maiden concert at Rod Laver Arena and thought that it was the best concert i have seen in a long time!
If anyone else went im sure they would've thought the same! I had a blast!

The last couple years ive been to see a few and am getting more and more into the live music scene now that i live in Melbourne.

im looking forward to going to Foo Fighters and Matchbox 20 this year and hopefully some more.

Strav, good to hear from you again mate.

Van Halen would be a good concert to go to!
Im hopeing AC/DC do another Australian tour! That would be a great Concert.

Has anyone been to AC/DC concert? Any Good?

Nice! Cheers for the respose boys.

If any-one else was at the Iron Maiden concert last night what did you think of it?

Does Bruce Dickinson still sing with Maiden Nugget? I always preferred the original D'ianno fronted Maiden personally...Dickinson was too operatic for my taste. I've had Prowler stuck in my head since you started this thread. :thumbsu:
The singer before Dickson was Paul Di ano Murders in the rouge mourge great song :thumbsu:

Yeh mate, Bruce Dickinson is still the lead singer.
He was pretty good last night!

Prowler! Great song :)

I went to the money talks concert in 90. Think I was about 10, was the best concert that I have been to by a mile. I still remember the huge bell they rang when hells bells started, and as that was my fav accadacca song i remember the hairs on my neck were satnding up.
Think I may also have a ac/dc note somewhere as well, they dropped them from the roof during the concert.
Angus Young also knew how to entertain the crowd, with his ripping solos and borderline epileptic fits on stage, he was awesome.

The Living End is awesome! Havent seen them at Rod Laver or anywhere big. Just at a little pub in Geelong about 5 years ago.
And i'll be seeing them tomorrow night at the Barwon Club!!! The best live band you will ever see. Go out and buy the DVD of their show at Festival Hall. You wont see better.

saw akadaka in ~'87 who made who tour. what a fantastic gig.

4 silouettes walked on stage in the darkness and then the 4count of the drumsticks came through the PA then on the one every light in the room came on to the beginning of who made who (drums and bass).

best rock n roll start to a concert ever. no muckn round with these boys it was straight in, WHAM BAM thank ya mam :thumbsu:

Best live bands I have ever seen were Pennywise (numerous times) and Dinosaur Jr at the palace (loudest band I have ever seen).

Nirvana was awesome and I travelled to the other side of the world to see the Pixies reform.

If anyone is going to Europe I recommend Roskilde Festival. Music and atmosphere were great, but the best thing, and one that I will never forget even when I am 90, is the unisex group showers. Oh man... I was the cleanest man in Denmark!

Reading festival in the UK normally has great lineups but too many 16 year old kids running around.

hey nugget this thread has made me dust the cobwebs of my LP WHO MADE WHO and it still ROCKZ!!!! :D thanks for the memories :thumbsu:

I have been to a ridiculous amount of shows, but 3 stand out...

1. AC/DC in washington DC...was amazing and the LOUDEST concert i have ever heard, it was bordering on deafening...loved it.

2. A band called fishbone - dunno if anyones knows them but they were sensational.

3. Pennywise, purely by how drunk the lead singer and lead guitarist were ( unable to speak ) yet they performed every song with precision !! true rock legends !!

Looking fwd to the fooies in a few months...

I wanted to go to the Iron Maiden concert so badly, but just too many events to attend and so little cash around this time of year. A mate of mine went and said it was abolutely sensational. Would kill to hear Number of the Beast played live.

Anyhoo, great concerts I've been to would be:

KISS Symphony (and saw them a year later when they played at Laver)
Sparta
Oasis (at Livid Festival)
Velvet Revolver (watching Slash work his magic was simply awesome)
Faker
Sum 41

Machine Gun Fellatio were awesome to watch live as well. The shit they did was a bit out there, but it was great viewing.

As per what others have said, would love to see AC/DC play for sure. That would be an awesome show.

My wife went to Iron Maiden last night and came home with the worst tour T-shirt I've ever seen (which by default makes it the best tour T-shirt).

Seen plenty of big shows but the best gig I've been to was Ed Kuepper and the Aints at the old Sarah Sands in Brunswick. There was only 40 or 50 people in the place and the music was so loud that they were all plastered against the back wall. Getting to the stage was like Marcel Marceau walking into the wind, but worth the effort, the pain, and the weeks worth of ringing ears.

Best is still Radiohead at Festival Hall in 98

Every Muse show is a belter.

Same with You Am I and Midnight Oil.

Best show seen at Rod Laver was The Killers this year - the place was electric. Just a nice smattering or hot teenagers in the crowd too without going overboard;)

Game Over and Bodyjar at the spew(mountain view) on a wednesday night was a belter of a gig as well. Very loud and very drunk, ahh the spew, those were the days.

SAW that Dinosaur Jr show at the Palace and then saw them at the Corner Hotel and In San Francisco last year!!
Pleasing to say the volume has not been turned down any!
Show in san Fran was a pretty memorable one for the fact I was travelling.
Other favourite shows have been Buffalo Tom (with The Welcome Mat as support) at Melbourne Uni cack in about 92, Belle and Sebastian at The Forum, a Lemonheads gig at the Waurn Ponds Hotel down Geelong (with You Am I as support) in 90 and Sufjan Stevens about two weeks ago at The Forum.
Upcoming gig to see...the reformation of Died Pretty!

Ha - I saw Buffalo Tom at Melbourne Uni that night. Did you used to go to 'Rave' in Queensberry St???

Someone said about Fishbone? Was that at the Palace? My mate went to that gig and still raves about it. Apparently the lead singer climbed up over the handrail to the second level or something???

Lots of Acca Dacca fans too... Good to see the Tiger fans out there have good taste!

I was at the same show at billboards !! they were great...i thought streetlight manifesto almost out did the other 2 !!

Maiden would've rocked.
Been to more gigs than I can remember, and most of them I can't. That's 'cos I'm old.
Soundwave festival is coming up, a lot more 'underground' metal bands; as well as some bigger names like offspring and incubus, but killswitch engage should be awesome.:thumbsu:
