Much better, the last team had too much Dean Rioli.

This team should include Jeff Farmer and possibly Phil Matera and Paddy Ryder shouldn't be anywhere near this team. Not even close to being close to being in this team at this point of his career. In any case, Goodes can second ruck and Farmer would ruck 90% of the game anyway. I'd go with this, trying to use much the same format as you've used;

Interesting to hear from an Eagles fan. Phil Matera or Chris Lewis? Wasn't sure who to go with. Who was the better player? Also, I've hear Wayne Carey was part Aboriginal. Is that true?

Well I'm not an Eagles fan but I'd go with Matera and I'd put him in the forward pocket and put Farmer on the bench. Your team has Lewis pretty well covered.

<edit> I'd also leave out Peter Burgoyne. Never really rated him. And the team has enough tough guys in it, it doesn't need wannabe one's.

I'm continually bemused by the absence of Sir Doug Nicholls in formulating such lists. He was a pioneer on and off the field, being the first to attempt to break down racist attitudes, the first indigenous player to register fifty games and the first indigenous player to represent Victoria. That's a fair resume in my book.

Bemused or a very narrow focus (Victoria).
No doubting Nicholls role in Vic, a bit like Sheedy & indigenous footy in Victoria - thats Victoria NOT Australia.
Nicholls didnt make the indigenous team of the century, one of many worthy players to miss out:

Chardonnay, I appreciate where you are coming from. Certainly Nicholls is known nationally moreso for his work beyond his immediate playing days. Nonetheless I hope his story from a footy point of view will never be passed over for the feats of modern players who comparatively have had greater opportunities to demonstrate their abilities. I wonder how he is perceived by the indigenous players in the game today.
