First casualty: BCCI sacks Chappell

I don't know about the validity of the site nor the article, hence the question mark. The article's prose suggests this is an unconfirmed rumour.

Sharad Pawar-led Indian cricket Board has refused to take the blame for the team’s shameful performance in the 2007 World Cup. Instead, it has just shot down the first victim.

Axe has fallen on coach Greg Chappell, who has been informed that his contract will not be renewed. The former Australian skipper’s contract with the Indian team ended with the game against Sri Lanka, which Rahul Dravid’s men lost by 69 runs.

Said a top BCCI source, “The formal announcement will be made by Board president Pawar in a few days’ time but we have conveyed our feelings to the players and also to Chappell. He has been told that he can pack his bags.”

Rahul Dravid was also appointed skipper only till the World Cup and his fate hangs in balance. Dravid himself admitted that he is no longer the skipper. There is intense anger in India, and heads were bound to roll.

I think chappell's career rests with bermuda!!

I'm 99% sure that some time ago he said he was moving on after the tournament anyway.

so I'm not sure how this is news, is the BCCI have decided to sack him when he's already announced his intention to move on at tournaments end then they really are stupid.

but I've said it before,

No Pathan, No India.

inform he's their best quick and adds stability to their batting with his defensive and attacking skills as well as his ability to dominate spin bowling. He's also one of the few bowling all-rounders around the world that can bat anywhere in the batting order.

The guys a dud coach anyway.
When he went to India everybody was like oh wow india got Greg Chapell he'll do well for them. He did well in the first tournament for them i think it was only one dayers but since then it's been pathetic.

He couldn't even coach SA why would he be able to coach India?

He said recently he was prepared to seek another two year contract even though late last year it looked very much like he would be terminated after the WC. Looked like he'd aged quite a bit when I saw him interviewed on tonight's news.

And just on the SA coaching, who has coached them well in recent times?

He may need to retire to Bermuda for his own safety.

He even mentioned during his press interview about his safety. Surely he'll just head back to Australia and take up a job on the domestic circuit perhaps.
